It's been so long since I used RSS in Safari I actually forgot about it. I know they dropped it in Mail so I wouldn't be shocked if they did in Safari also.
I always thought it rather sucked in both but slightly less in Mail. I haven't quite found an indie app that I like so I'm going to toss a Lion VM into my system with just Mail (holding only my RSS) and Safari until I get things cleaned up.
They took it away when we went from Safari 5.2 to Safari 6 in the DPs. It's completely gone. Command+Option+A is now the Inspector.
Oh well. :-(
Activity Windows was nice and simple, but the Network tab in the Web Inspector does the same job and is more comprehensive - its just more text and numbers than the average layman is accustomed too.
EDIT: Above picture is Safari 5 on Windows Vista (work machine blech) and it appears as if Safari 6 has no Windows download on the Apple site.
Is anyone else having trouble obtaining it? http://www.apple.com/safari/downloads redirects back to the main Safari page. If I open App Store and click "Updates" I'm told there are "No Updates Available". And the latest version on Developer Connection is from June 20th.
The Downloads page has always been a bit behind on these things.
Lion updates for the 'embedded' apps were in and are still in Software Update not in the App Store.

But the issue for many is that they were using the Activity Window to copy media (especially videos) out of their cache. Can you do that in this tab.
Where the hell is the RSS reader!?!?! It was the best all round RSS reader! I DEPEND on it for thousands of feeds that I have to keep track of every day!
FFS can anyone give a temporary fix for me? Alt app? Something that will import my Safari feeds and get me on my feet asap?
That's the funniest post I've read all day. You wasted absolutely no time before showing that you can't comprehend the most basic aspects of language, much less the topic at hand.
I used that on you because you claimed that there's no reason to change anything about the iMac. Now you're trying to use it on me because I'm claiming that there IS a valid reason to change Safari.
But the issue for many is that they were using the Activity Window to copy media (especially videos) out of their cache. Can you do that in this tab.
Activity Window did not copy out of the cache, it opened the URL and if the file happened to be in your cache already, it would just pull that one.
With the network tab you can right click on an item and copy its URL. You can also preview it in the larger, right hand window. As you can see I'm not on my Mac so I have no idea if the same shortcuts for downloading still work as they did in Activity Window.
But, if they don't, there's always CURL from the terminal.
Fixed! In my defense I have been using Windows on my Mac a lot lately. I'm trying to get fairly proficient in Windows Server because it's unfortunately what people expect from you as a network admin.

See the problem?
Man, that's a good one.
I would argue you think they shouldn't have changed how the tabs are.
If someone said that they think apple was going to do this to the tabs You would have told them they were idiots.
Instead of being a uniform size until the entire bar is full, they start as the full bar, cutting in half as you create more tabs, until it runs over.
Yeah, that's driving me crazy right now. I thought I remembered that Apple did this before and then changed to the more rational way? Awful anyway.
I think I might have to ditch Safari anyway as they are making it so hard to use without dropping your personal and private stuff all over the place. Soooooo very very tired of cleaning out history, cleaning out cookies, cleaning out search history etc. etc.
Why can't someone make a browser that works for people who know how the Internet works (i.e. - able to type a URL), and don't want every little thing they did or looked at saved somewhere for the next person using the computer to see? Even on "Private Browsing" Safari saves all kinds of things. And why should I have to install Ghostery, YouTube extensions, and Adblockers on every browser? The new unified search/URL bar makes Safari almost unusable if you don't want to be tracked.
I just downloaded on my iMac and there is no longer an empty cache?? Where did it go and how you to empty it now? I went over to my Macbook that still has the older Safari and it's there???

That's a good question. And I will really miss Activity Window.

Choose History > Clear History, and then click Clear.
To clear Top Sites as well as your history list, select “Also reset Top Sites.” The Top Sites page is based on your browsing history.
Clearing your history also empties caches, removes website icons, and clears the list of recent searches. Website icons are small graphics that help identify sites on the Internet. You see them in the address and search field, the bookmarks list, and other places. You can see your recent searches by clicking the magnifying glass at the left end of the address and search field when it’s empty."

Pretty sure this is the first for OS X. Plus, its not a big deal. So they moved the new tab button to the right. Not exactly black death...

Why are you cleaning out your cookies and history anyway?
Either way, this is how its done automatically if you really need it.
Safari > Preferences > General > Remove History Items after one day
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Block Cookies > Always or Third Parties (your choice)
For some extra zip, you can enable the developer menu and select "Disable Caches".

Maybe its time to learn about user accounts, or at the very least, the Guest account. :-)

You do? I don't have them. Am I going to spontaneously combust without them? Oh, wait, products for paranoids. You know the cookie options in the preferences are very handy!

Damn!! they've removed the Backspace key shortcut!!... I was really worried, thought it was a bug... but after trying other key combinations I can use the command + left arrow key combination to go back to previous URL... better yet, I can use command + right arrow also to navigate through my used URL's... on Safari 5 those were assigned to some forgettable combinations. ME HAPPY :-)
Not happy with the new tabs or the combined URL/search box either. One nice thing about the old, orderly every-tab-the-same-size layout was the ability to close, say, three of 5 tabs with three clicks (without a mouse move). Now you have to hunt for the (invisible) close boxes. Just inelegant. Maybe, perhaps, I'll get used to the combined address/search box, but I'm pretty old school and would have preferred to keep them distinct.
And I still don't know what that Reader/reading list thing is supposed to be used for.
Ah, more evidence that this new tab things is broken: take a look at your window when you have a single table. Title bar with the name of the page at the top, then a row for the buttons and stuff, a row for the bookmark bar, and then... another row with the title of the page, centered below the title. Really, we need to titles for the same window? Lame.

from SAFARI Help:
"Clear the entire history list
Open Safari if it is not already open.

Yahoo.com doesn't seem to work with Safari 6, it's just blank screened.
Marisa Mayer really has streamlined their site.
OK, a more helpful comment. There is something wrong with your Safari. it's likely a cache or system preference. Have you tried to reset Safari?

Good idea... maybe that will address the other strange behavior like having to refresh after opening safari to update the tabbed sites.

Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Prevent search engine from providing suggestions
So by simply looking in the preferences, all of the privacy issues you have mentioned have now been resolved.
