Mailbox email client working on iPad and Mac apps, possible non-Gmail account support
In a blast of tweets on Thursday, the developers behind Mailbox revealed that they are currently working on an iPad version of the iOS app, as well as a number of other features like support for non-Gmail and POP accounts, landscape mode and an OS X client.
Mailbox has seen its fair share of media attention since launching in February, especially when the company was acquired by Dropbox last month. Still, some users have bemoaned a lack of support for accounts other than Gmail, as well as other basic features offered by competing apps.
According to TechCrunch, which first spotted what amounted to a Twitter-based Q&A session with Mailbox, the firm is looking to bring the currently iPhone-only app to the iPad. Other enhancements "on the roadmap" include a native OS X client, POP email support and an Android offering, among others.
No timeline was given as to when the new features would be ready for public consumption, but the Mailbox has previously taken its time on rollouts. When it first debuted, and for weeks following, the app had a reservation list to ensure the software's backend could handle the onslaught of new users.
The most recent update, released earlier in April, brought a few minor UI tweaks and the addition of deeper "snooze" options.

That said I'm not feeling what the big deal is (yet). It's pretty hyped and there is demand. Many small businesses leverage google services for email
No thanks. I'm NOT interested in what may be the crappiest email client in existence, I'd rather telnet to port 110 than give access to my email to yet another company I don't trust. And the functionality is horrible anyway.
