    I think we'll see those 2 colors on the full-sized iPad- w/ a fingerprint scanner, A7X, 8mp camera, and 2 gb ram.

Unfortunately, I think we'll see all 3 colors on the iPad Mini- w/ a fingerprint scanner, A7X, 8mp camera 1 gb ram... and no Retina.

The pitch will be that it is substantially faster (would actually be over 4x faster) and get the new hardware to overshadow the no retina.  Just my gut telling me.... so I'm basically thinking like an analyst.

    Man I hope I'm wrong.....

You might be right about there not being a full sized gold iPad. I'll just choose a color after I see the keynote. I wanted a black one, because I like how my black Mini looks and feels.

I don't think that Apple is going to put the same CPU and the same camera in both the large iPad and the Mini. I'm also not sure about there being a Touch ID sensor on the Mini, but I suppose that we'll all know for sure soon enough in a couple of weeks. The Mini does cost a bit less than the large iPad, so I don't think that it would be a good idea for Apple to have the Mini as powerful as the large iPad.

Quite aside from setting themselves up for a fall in competing with an Apple announcement, what are Microsoft/Nokia thinking about in competing with each other?

    OK...

Apple is announcing it's new tablets on 22nd October. Microsoft already announced theirs last month. So there is no clash between Apple and Microsoft. The clash is between Apple and Nokia.

Trying to get that post count up? Seriously, sometimes you just need to wait a second or two for it to show up.

Why did you want to double down on his double-posting and help it show up 4 times? Sometimes, you need to wait a sec or 2 for common sense to show up before jumping on something.

Microsoft launching anything is up there with slug racing and synchronized yawning.  Go Apple!

Why would the mini need an x series chip if it didn't have retina? Personally I would be more excited about the A7 than retina.

True- no need for the 7X if no retina. Thanks for pointing that out. I'd prefer an A6X and retina over an A7. But honestly- I'd prefer an A7x and retina and jump the price up. $399 is fine with me. Well worth it.

The headlines always remove attribution, so they read:
    "...seen as..."
    "...likely to..."
    "...predicted to..."

    Guys, it's noise. Delicious noise.

Even the announcement of a date for a new iPad announcement, overshaddow any new MS product these days.

The gold -- really, champagne -- is simply exquisite. I really hope they have that on the iPad too.

I'm really digging the space gray iPad. That might be the one I go for.

Except an Apple announcement will nullify a Microsoft launch.  Or will this be Microsoft Fizzle 2?

Apple and Nokia clash?  Since when has the interaction between my hand and a mosquito been considered a clash?

I'm interested to see what Nokia has planned for a tablet as long as it doesn't run Android or Windows.

I'm thinking that Apple did this on purpose. If I remember correctly, this isn't the first time its happened. If Microsoft were smart though, they'd either release their products earlier, or wait another week or so. Nobody will even be talking about Microsoft on the 22nd, even if they release new products. It will be like a back page story. Apple has enough good stuff to release at this event to where this is all people will be talking about.
