Apple releases third beta of iOS 7.1 with iCloud, audiobook fixes
Apple on Tuesday supplied developers with its third pre-release beta of iOS 7.1, a forthcoming update for its mobile operating system, with the latest build bringing fixes for creating a new iCloud account, as well as playing back audio books.

People familiar with the software indicated it is identified as "Build 11D5127c." It is available to download from Apple's developer website, as well as over the air on test devices, but is not intended for general public use.
The third beta of iOS 7.1 is said to fix an issue that could arrise when creating a new iCloud account during setup. In addition, the latest build reportedly no longer gives an error when users enable iCloud Keychain.
In addition, Apple also fixed an issue in iOS 7.1 that could cause problems when listening to audiobooks on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
The software is not yet ready for primetime, however, as people familiar with the latest build said that Apple has informed developers that a handful of known issues remain. For example, 32-bit Bluetooth applications on 64-bit devices, like the iPhone 5s or latest iPads, do not work properly.
An error is also said to remain in which the Messages application sometimes indicates an iMessage send failure immediately after sending. Developers can work around this by tapping the error icon to re-send the message.
Previously, Apple provided developers with the second beta of iOS 7.1 in mid-December, addressing bugs related to iTunes Match, and also making it easier to access Touch ID settings on the iPhone 5s.

Im really enjoying 7, can't wait to see what turn 8 is going to take.
This better darn well fix (insert favorite pet peeve, issue that only I have, feature I need to function in life, Android feature they’ve had for years) or I’m dumping Apple. Don’t they test this stuff? Apple’s QA has gone south since Steve died. I might just buy a Galaxy over this.
¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
I also wish they'd do something about the video player's UI, and the retarded iPad's calendar UI. Whoever thought that creating small month labels and fading them in and out is a good idea?
I am not a big fan of skeuomorphism; however, I preferred the clarity of the previous UI compared to this overly subtle UI which is closer to looking like a mistake than a feature. Like scrolling through the SMS messages, that's not a bouncing effect, or is it?
Evidence: HiddenSettings7, as available from Cydia. This unlocks hidden developer settings, which allow you customize Apples own preset animation function. Slowing down the animations by 50% results in the way they should be.
The devices are not slow, Apple has just chosen too slow of a speed for the animation. Shame.
Also, in 7.1 beta 3, the keyboard (on iPad) seems to have bolder (and blurrier) characters...looks awful.
I hope it fixes all the crashes I get in Safari.

seriously
I wonder how much that website gets constructive feedback vs venting vs "Boy-Apple-has-gone-downhill-since-Steve-died" type of replies.
You're gonna love 8.
(Alt caption was going to be: "Windows: Love it or 8 it")
Use Chrome, the only browser tested by Duddler Tech.
I believe the Bluetooth issue is a misreading of the release notes. The 32-bit issue seems to relate only to apps being compiled using iOS SDK 7.1 beta 3. It should not affect existing apps.

Chrome crashes as well, on ipadair at least.
I hope they fix the UI for unlocking your phone, the glow effect is too long and it becomes easy for anyone who's casually looking at your phone to figure it out. Really annoying!

yea yea yea, apple.com/feedback... we know. This is a rant post!
i use it several times a year to submit feature requests and the occasional bug report. i have seen exactly two of the requests i've submitted end up as features. i'm not silly enough to think that they're paying attention to me, per se, but based on what i've seen i'm hopeful that they might just aggregate the reports and pay attention to the sum total.
I know this isn't a support forum, so please ignore if it shouldn't be here, but my Contacts keep disappearing from my 4S using iOS7.
All disappear except 3 or 4 (perhaps ones MADE on the phone itself?).
I don't need contacts every minute so it's minor annoyance, so I let it drag on sometimes.
Sometimes they re-appear on their own (WiFi Sync from iCloud while at home, perhaps involving iMac, I think).
Sometimes I dig deep into my phone's Settings "looking" for something to do with Contacts. Then I sometimes find an entry that "shows" them, and they're back.
Right now they're staying "gone" a little longer than usual, and I can't find that magic location in Settings where they reappear.
I know this isn't an "actionable" story.
1st Last bit: My iCloud storage keeps claiming "full". I don't mind that either for now, but didn't think it would impair Contacts-Syncing.
2nd Last bit: I use the Clear list-management app which syncs to my other iOS devices (using cell data). That iCloud setting keeps getting turned off and it complains that it can't update. That usually takes "fooling-with" right in Clear.
I couldn't resist posting my story. My apologies to all.
Anyone here experience occassional reebots of the iPhone 5S running iOS 7 ?
A friend of mine said he experienced such reeboots from time to time.
Hope 7.1 irons all such stuff..
This would never have happened if Brian Griffin was still alive.
Oh, wait...
