Also, without Canada you'd have no...bacon...and, um *tries to think of other exports* aha! Jim Carrey as well as all your prescious Apple advertising, which is done by us clever Canadians.
Oh, and if you insult Canada, we'll retalliate by sending Celine Dion back south. I'm serious. We'll do it.
"To go where no PC has gone before" could imply portability or completely unique functionality - literally going somewhere that no PC has gone before, or doing something that no PC has done before.
A tablet PC would fit the bill, as would a wearable PC running OSX (IBM even has a wristwatch running Linux, so it's not that far-fetched).
There have been a number of threads/guesses as to what Steve is up to that could be related back to this, IMHO.

Am I the only person who is really, really not interested in purchasing a tablet PC, no matter how drop-dead gorgeous Mr. Ive has made it look? I have a laptop, which does everything a tablet would do AND it has a keyboard. Woohoo.

Micorsoft and Sony both have tablets.
IBM killed the wrist watch thing-it flopped.
Not sure Apple would do something like the above. I think it's about either features or speed. Price-only if they sell a G3 iMac for $2000 they would be in uncharted PC territory
<strong>Outer space? A satellite service specifically for Mac users?</strong><hr></blockquote>
mmm, fits with something I read in another post. Also connects to the new iTools idea and with ThinkFree (online java type office suite) at the show and doing something with Apple....intersting....

I think that I have to agree on the usability factor of the tablet. It would be cool for some things, drawing, perhaps even note taking in a more discrete fashion, but in general w/o a keyboard it would be horribly inefficient for many, many staple computer uses (especially those having to do with many of the things people use laptops for..as opposed to pda's). Furthermore, tablet is too large to be a good pda. So I don't quite see the niche.
But then again, beautiful industrial design aside (and my wife's an industrial designer who'd probably say this too), I always thought the cube was a silly idea as well, since I will never (again, after the powerbook 520c) buy a computer without some serious expandability and a reliable upgrade path.
So the tablet would be an incredibly specialized product, unless it were part of a high-end iMac like computer (but get high end enough here and we'll be in the land of the kind of users who want all the expandability / customizability that comes with pro-level machines, so again...the big question would be where the he** does it fit).
Sorry if I'm just unimaginative...though I'm afraid that Apple has begun fetishizing the coolness factor to the degree of forgetting about usability in a lot of situations (see OS X). <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
The new iMac will be so small and light, that it will literally go anywhere.....of course that would make it an iBook, but like I said, I'm only guessing.
The whole satellite network idea is plausible - apple have or had a few pages on their site about a company called SkyCorp who were launching 54 satellites into space that contained cube's e
with airport and were going to provide wireless airport......please let it be that apple....please!

64-bit, of course.
(Sparcs and Itaniums are NOT PCs. They are high-end
workstations/servers)

Well, one could discuss what kind of hardware this refers to. <sarcasm>Must be the iWalk. It's not fake after all.</sarcasm>
