What were you expecting? A phone with a larger display and more internal space to have worse specs for a higher price? Do you think that scoring better on some stats means it's a better option for all buyers?

Who cares about paying $99 more on a phone that cost $850? Like they say you need to PAY to PLAY. With all the profits my Apple shares gave me this year I will willingly plunk down $850 for my top of the line iPhone 6+ 64GB. I would get the 128 but I don't have a big music collection or video collection.
Again, your assumption of the issue being cost is not valid. The problem for most is that it's too large. This why even among the Android-based devices the 4.5 and larger devices account for only a very smaller percentage of all Android-based smartphones despite the OEM's push toward these larger devices as their flagship models.

So the iPhone 6 won't last a day? My 5S does. Troll
1080 movies do scale on the 6 Plus. In fact, they scale twice, whereas the 6 only scales once. You're not a troll here, just ignorant.
IOS is nice but "blow out of the water"? Troll
Sorry, this "My iPhone 6 Plus is superior to the iPhone 6- and the iPhone 6 is for posers. And iPhone 5S people are losers and idiots for not upgrading" game you play is ridiculous, annoying, and you simply need to GO AWAY.
For implementing the Reachability feature, wouldn't it have been better to shrink the display view to 4" when invoked by the double-tap of the home button?
I love and hate my iPhone 6 Plus. There are times when I'm on public transportation and standing when it is easier to reply to a message using one hand and I can't. It's a big phone but I knew going in that was the trade-off. I love the display and the tablet-like qualities but it's very difficult to fit in my Levis; note that I don't wear skinny or tight jeans. I like loose fit. I also love the camera and optical stabilization. I'm giving myself another week to decide whether I will stick with it or go with the iPhone 6 instead.
Interesting post. I think quite a few will be in your position.
Did I say that ever? Nope. What you said was "my 1080 movies will look awesome becausethere will be ZERO scaling."
Which is simply untrue. A lie. Not factual. Wrong wrong wrong. In fact- if "scaling" is how you determine your movies being watched- it is actually worse than the 6. The 6 scales to 1080 because of it's screen size. The 6 Plus upsizes it via software to 2208x1242- which reduces quality. And then the hardware scales it back down to 1920x1080- which further reduces quality. I, personally, prefer the bigger screen- but the scaling of the iPhone 6 plus actually makes it worse than it could be. The simple fact you used "scaling" as your reason is just further proof you are a clueless hack.
I said "IOS is nice but "blow out of the water" it isn't. Will the 6 Plus take better pictures, yes. Does it "Blow the 6 out of the water" as you claimed? Uh- hell no.
Of course it is! That's why I bought one. But a few ways it is not superior in is portability, weight, single-hand usefulness, amongst others. To discredit everyone else's opinions and pros as to why they prefer the 6 is being a troll. Deal with it.
Actually you said they are "out of style". Fact.
sorry I'm not an expert an scaling. All i know is video will be better on the plus because of higher resolution.
It takes better pictures. For some people it will be a 'blow out of the water' experience. Look at the photo's in the review the difference in low light is obvious and 'blow out of the water' worthy. Your opinion may vary. But it does take superior photo's.
The Plus is Superior at:
Watching Video
Internet Browsing
Using Apps
Playing Games
Taking Pictures
Taking Video
Texting/Calander - split pane
The 6 is better at:
Portability
1 hand use
But inferior to the 5S at both aspects
So if your priority is 1 hand use/portability why not just get a 5S?
I'm sorry but the iPhone6+ is the ultimate.
But the iPad is far superior to the 6 Plus when it comes to video, internet, apps, games, productivity and long-term use. And so, for those who have the iPad, I think the 6 is generally going to be the better option.
It's true that UI elements are constructed at higher resolution, to make touch targets scale simply in UI designs, but it's unlikely they're scaling video twice! Video is decoded in hardware, for power efficiency. Scaling and rescaling would waste power and result in poorer quality. There's no reason for them to do it that way.
Except it does Norm. It's insane.
We're speaking of watching video in 1080p- in which case apple uses a 3x scale to scale it beyond 1080, and like you said, the hardware decodes (scales) it back down.
Really, you can barely notice (if at all)- and that's even if you're looking for it. But they're doing with the 6 Plus what android does with all their misc. sized phones. Obviously on a much much much (I can't say much enough) smaller scale.
I don't think they had much choice though.

"It's quite clear from looking" doesn't make it so. As if you could tell the difference anyway. Lol
There are plenty of articles on this as well as the 3x developer note. (3x is beyond 1080p btw)
That might also explain why a poster here has said that it tends to get hotter than his iPhone 5s—all that work it has to do to produce the video. I imagine the 6 will be better, therefore, as it doesn't have as much to do in that respect.
I just got my 6 Plus with a black leather case ...
Nice case -- but non-distinctive?
I had walnut cases on earlier iPhones that I really liked!
Would it be possible, with your wood technology to create a case from thin aged wood (naturally or chemically)? I suspect you'd need to coat it with epoxy (or somesuch) to provide a smooth surface and keep the wood intact.
But I think it would make a really distinctive statement!
But the iPad is far superior to the 6 Plus when it comes to video, internet, apps, games, productivity and long-term use. And so, for those who have the iPad, I think the 6 is generally going to be the better option.
Why doesn't the iPad get the same keyboard as the iPhone 6 plus? I'd kinda like to have the extra keyboard options. I understand why the other iPhones don't get it, but an iPad with a bigger screen?

FYI Comcast charges $11495/mo for up to 150MB/sec wtf do you need all that speed for exactly
, 50MB/sec should be enough for most purposes
I just had to login to see if someone commented on the capital B, and why it's not in lowercase. No one has, and that seems... odd.

I've never seen throughput measured in Bytes from an ISP. Always bits. I'd even use 150Mib to be more clear about what is being measured. 18.75MiB/s sounds nice. I only get 40Mib/s where I am,

Neither have I. Now the poster may not know the difference but I'm just advocating accuracy, especially when it concerns network speed.
Using standards-based multiplier mebi is 'even better' than Mb, as it defines 2^20 instead of 10^6 (1,048,576 bits instead of 1,000,000).
Not myself, but it is a auto side effect when upgrading software though.
Yeah, I missed that. I can[/COLOR]’t imagine he doesn’t know what he’s really saying, though.
Well, I seem to be a nitpicking type of person, or can be. I just don't understand why people - in general, not picking on this poster specifically - aren't precise where it matters. When talking about bits a capital B or lowercase b is an 8-fold difference; that matters, even more so when it concerns networking.
Geez, turned into a rant. Excuse me y'all, carry on.
Plus my 1080 movies will look awesome because there will be ZERO scaling.
iOS on the iPhone 6 Plus employes a scaling factor at all times. iOS uses three coordinate systems for each graphics context: drawing, view, and device. Points are rendered into pixels and then downsampled for the display. 414 x 736 > 1242 x 2208 > 1080 x 1920.
Comments
Can't wait to get a 6 Plus S and the Bendgahzi issue is fixed. Until then I'm smoking on a non bendable 5S.
Remember
IPhone 5 - crappy black finish prone to chips nicks and dings
IPhone 5S- color discontinued and replaced by space grey
iPhone 4- antennagate
Iphone 4S- antenna repositioned/ fixed
Love the "S" cycle.
But if you use the S cycle you will always be out of style.
Kinda sucks buying a 'brand new phone' that looks EXACTLY the same as phones that came out 1 year ago.
And then when your S-phone is 1 year old it looks big time out dated because of the new models.
I know. I own the 5S. That's why I'm getting the 6-Plus.
I like to get the cutting edge not something that looks outdated the day you buy it.
If you're so insecure as to worry about your one-year old phone being out of style, then you've got some growing up to do.
It explains a lot.

It's funny you say that in capitol letters because The iphone 6 plus actually uses a 2208x1242 display resolution downscaled to 1920x1080.
This is part of the reason i did not buy a 6 plus. The image is downscaled to fit.
(some people like downscaling) but nothing is more crisp than a 1:1 native resolution.
