oh please. Bose was crap before an Apple lawsuit. Just ask any audiophile or audio engineer.

Now if you were talking about AKG or Sennheiser that'd be a different deal.

Okay then, can you please show me those reviews from audio engineers that state literally that Bose headphones are crap. I would like you to use the ones Apple sells in their online store as reference when you're searching for reviews. Just mind you for every single negative review you post, I will post 10 positive ones. I'm not defending Bose here, I'm stating that your opinion of Bose's are crap is juvenile and biased.

If it takes an expert to discern the difference, then the difference may not matter.

Will the rivalry put to rest with the agreed settlement?

Their sound isn't that great for what they cost. Most people that talk up Bose specifically refer to their noise cancelling headphones. That is by far their strongest feature. It's understandable that they would want to protect that, because it's their greatest differentiation from other brands. The thing about Sennheiser is that they typically offer a better value in terms of sound quality relative to pricing tier than many of the others.

I wouldn't argue that but simply calling Bose products crap is a statement based on an emotional bias from them suing Apple. That was the only point I was trying too make. I too agree Bose products tend to be overpriced but garbage their not. We have had the same Bose outdoor speakers for 10 years, survived snow and rain and still sound as if they just came out of the box, they might not be the best sounding speakers or even the most reasonable but again crap, just a ridiculous remark.

I have never seen an Apple product for sale at a Bose location. Maybe an iPod.

I've heard their headphones, and what I liked most was the noise cancellation.

That statement makes absolutely no sense. Apple sold Bose headphones as accessory items for Apple branded products. They were there to provide an additional sale for Apple retail. This really doesn't require much insight. Think for a second before you post. Apple doesn't make anything that would be a natural accessory to a Bose item, so retail space leased by Bose would not have any reason to stock them. It wouldn't even make sense with Apple's distribution model.

Why would Bose sell Apple products in their store, that makes absolutely no sense. When demonstrating their desktop speakers however I've seen them using a MacBook or iMac with iTunes and iPhones when showing off their headphones. However it also depends on which local computer store Bose made a deal with. The Bose store in Baar for example uses http://computer.maxdata.ch/, a local computer manufacturer, reason being, they have a store across the street. Would you also expect JBL, B&O, Seinheiser, etc. to use Apple as the music source when they show off their products simply because Apple carries their products in their stores. Of course not, well not until they sue Apple that is, then for some reason everyone thinks they owe their entire existence to Apple.

So you want Apple to carry Samdung phones in their stores also?

You don't carry your competitors products in your store.

Only risk is that given the size of Apple (biggest tech company in the world, right?) and the way the expand (payment services, music store, app store, and now Beats), starting to NOT carry their competitors, especially former partners that helped them obtain this image of luxury they rightly deserve... it might remind the regulator of Microsoft and Internet Explorer. You know, monopoly position allowing you to kill your competitors by not featuring them anymore in the biggest store there is, yours?

Would be pretty funny to see Apple be cut in multiple companies, right? /s

Apple isn't the largest retail store in the world so there isn't a concern for monopoly status. In addition, even if it was, it would be near impossible to have a monopoly market share in retail.

Of course, you're right about retail, I was more concerned about the tech company part. From an external point of view, it might look like Apple just forced a company to renounce their rights by threatening them to destroy their sales. That would be... bad.

I can't help the public's stupidity if they believe that.

Yes but unless Amazon was "harmed", the DOJ won't investigate.

The problem is, we are tech people here, but you'd be amazed at what regular people believe. We live in a sort of bizarre world where TV serves the role of the local priest in ages past, serving easy-to-swallow thoughtbites to people, and where religion is a cult to machines, I sometimes think. A bit earlier today, the office lady at the reception was talking about the new iPhone which is way too big and breaks when you put it in your pockets, and it's even worse my dear sir, did you hear that you need to have your pockets re-tailored?

To us, BendGate is a hoax way in the past already. To the first world's standard inhabitant, it's news.

All these "scandals" that pile up, day after day, build a backlog of Apple-hate which is pretty much annoying. As for the DoJ, I can only agree with you. It seems that the DoJ has turned into Amazon's private "law" enforcement firm or something... You wouldn't put it past Amazon to have laws made especially for them ^^

Why?  BOSE is well known for selling over priced crap.  They're as bad as MONSTER cables.   It would have zero effect in Apple stores.  Not enough at least to matter.  Toss BOSE fill with BEATS.  Nothing lost in the end.  BEATS is not much better and I still don't understand why Apple would spend 3 billion on them other then throw some money away.  Spread the wealth to some black people?   I'm trying to think of a good reason and I don't see it.    There's so many other things that money could be spent on, maybe something more useful like GT Advanced!!!    That would make far more sense to me.

Bose may be overpriced crap (at some level), but that's certainly not how they're known by the general public.

They are not anywhere near as bad as Monster Cable, who founded beats. Monster Cable sells overpriced products whose performance is indistinguishable from generics. Bose equipment sounds much better than generic equipment. Plus, there are just as many audiophile forum reviews about Beats stuff being overpriced crap as Bose.

None of these titles matter. If someone listens to a product in a store, and likes it, and agrees to the price, then guess what? It's not overpriced -- even Monster Cable.
