I don't think you know what a commodity is.

Im from Europe and we have contactless credit cards 2 years available here or so, it is very convenient already :) but yes, i was shocked that in US you use old magnetic cards yet so i understand that you see Apple Pay like something "cool" :) http://www.mastercard.co.uk/contactless.html for example

    Apple Pay is better.

Anybody can steal that card and use it right? What if somebody loses their wallet? Same thing. Anybody who finds it, can immediately use the card it seems.

Also, the limit on it seems real low.

And I think that all of the transactions are not private, so the retailer will have records of your transactions I believe. Apple Pay is private.

Maybe I'm missing something, but that card seems less secure than a regular debit or credit card.

If somebody loses their regular credit card or debit card, the thief would still need the pin. With that contactless card, no pin or any additional authentication is required. Is that correct?

Looks like it’s going to be a monster quarter but some are correctly pointing out that having a single product be responsible for the vast majority of your business is a bit scary. Obviously the iPhone has a LOT of growth left in it but Apple must be thinking ahead to the future. The executive team are not stupid and I think we will see diversification into other products and markets. I’m not sure what those products and markets might be but I’ll let Tim and Co. figure that out.

How about self-driving cars, robotics and balloon-based Internet service for the third world? LOL!

In Canada you can use a chip debit, and I think Visa, too, for non touch payment. It is frictionless and super quick. The limit is very low however, I think around 25 bucks although at the gas station its at least 100. And as you point out, not very secure. Anyone can steal my cards a go on an unchecked shopping spree. I am sure the red flags would come up quite quickly and I would not be liable, but for the financial institutions the cost of low level proud like that times many thousands must be pretty  high.

Having one product that is much more profitable than others isn't the same as only relying on one product for your success. If you were to drop the iPhone down to the success level of their next highest product category they are still a top company, if not still the top company.

The market for mobile, communication/computing devices isn't going away, ever. Apple does have a very diverse product lineup even given it's commitment to do only a certain number of things very well. Televisions, cars, home appliances etc. will never be as lucrative a market as iPhone-like devices that appeal to virtually every human being on the planet. If anything Apple should heavily invest (and I assume they're doing so) into making the iPhone and its future iterations the most versatile and desirable devices of their type.

Advertising is getting more and more fragmented. Google will have mucho problem with that in the future. Also, Google gets a huge part of its mobile business from Apple phones, not Android!! I wouldn't be surprised if Google hadn't made one cent from Android since it started. If Apple were to somehow replace them in search on their phone, that would be a big blow.

BTW, Google is not that much ahead even in search and their heavy handedness in wanting our info is getting old for many people.

These are really wimpy predictions. AAPL is virtually guaranteed to hit $135 per share in the short term. I'll get some balls and say that it will hit $180 in three months. Apple is so undervalued it isn't funny.

I'm pretty sure Google has had a net loss, overall, on Android. Between the money they've had to pay to indemnify Samsung and others against lawsuits, to the Oracle lawsuit (which is going to be a huge chunk of change), to the billions they lost on Motorola...it adds up quickly. Not to mention the money lost on Nexus devices.

I say $200 by WWDC '15. Slow and steady.

the numbers are bogus,  you only have to check with the carriers like verizon and atnt,  they have the stats of sales of every model of iphones.

$200 × 5,870,000,000 shares = $1,174,000,000,000 = $1.2 Trillion dollar market cap. That seems highly unlikely in a span of about 7 months.

I've noticed a lot less attack ads and less Sammy ads in general.

Last year they were on every channel every 10 minutes it seemed.

Not anymore!! Those ads are expensive now!! :D

Google's dominance is search and I don't see anyone coming even close to disrupting that.

You reckon they will be on top of the pile forever?

People are now more concerned with privacy, except their fanboys, who will ditch their search engine one day.

Oh one more thing mobile is the new pc and mobile search has very little Google search activity because the apps are everything.

Yes the apps verse will disrupt Google search.

It looks like Google Wallet is now on the Pebble Watch so I think that would at least make ?Watch at least second, but I would exactly call either Google Wallet or Pebble secure or setup to be care about security the way ?Watch is designed.

And how many ?Watch customers will not be iPhone owners? Seriously, why is it a big deal to have to use an iPhone to push the ?Pay cards to the ?Watch that one time. Hell, you could probably even do it with a demo iPhone in an Apple Store if you really didn't want to use an iPhone but wanted an ?Watch with ?Pay enabled.

All 5 members of our household have iPhones that qualify for ApplePay. I suspect each will want an AppleWatch the services it provides and for the convenience of ApplePay.

How many times must be stated that ?Watch works for ?Pay even without an iPhone present? Again, the only requirement is to use an iPhone 5 or newer for the initial setup ?Pay on ?Watch.
