I haven't seen the programme and would have hoped it gave credit to Apple where it does a good job in this area. but I don't have a problem with Apple being taken to task for not following its own contractor / worker guidelines. Apple can take it and Apple can fix it.

I don't know because I haven't seen the programme, but if you look at AI's original article it says:
The BBC Panorama investigation put embeds with hidden cameras to work at Pegatron's iPhone factory, who quickly found inconsistencies with Apple's promised safeguards outlined in its Supplier Responsibility report (PDF download). Undercover reporters discovered numerous infractions, including illegal ID card confiscation, excessive working hours, poor living conditions and underage workers.
I am expecting Apple to invest their profits back into society. Right now they are sitting on a mountain of half a trillion $ of cash. I am not being unreasonable here.
I don't want Apple to invest their profits back into society. I want Apple to invest their profits back to people like me, the shareholders. Apple is a corporation, not a charity.
Look at the clothes and shoes you are wearing, made in far more exploitive conditions by small underfed people & children in Bangladesh, the baubles you bought at the big box store of your choice....

I've seen quite a few TED talks on a variety of topics, but I haven't seen that one yet. Again, I will bookmark it, and view it in the future when I have a chance.
LOL. I don't think he's quite getting connection between their not being "...able to vote" that he bemoans, and his political philosophy....
Oops, I just realised I mentioned "Marxism" on an American forum " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />
So far no one has reported me.
We, Europeans feel less intimidated by the "M" word. Capitalism's biggest challenge is to overcome its shortcomings, as outlined by Marx. So yes, Karl Marx is relevant to this thread.

I thought the thread was about the Beebs sensationalist reporting and misrepresentation of facts, in order to drive ratings upward and therefore justify their advertising charges that they derive their income from.
oh well ....

You completely missed the obvious internal contradiction in your post, apparently. Not surprising.
(Oh, you can mention Marx all you want. Anywhere in America. We even have a US Senator who is a Socialist.)
I hate the BBC. They are as bad as Al Jazeera or RT.
I find Al Jazeera to be an excellent news source, especially some of their feature pieces. RT is also an interesting alternative angle. I think many are too eager too dismiss different perspective as bias; they aren't necessarily the same thing.

Being the bad person that I am, I will admit that I chuckled when the USA "mistakingly" bombed Al Jazeera a while back.
Don't watch them at all, but I don't think you quite understand or know Al Jazeera. You should find out why dictators and fundamentalists in the Middle East hate them even more than uninformed Americans do.

Really? I mean really? There's more factual content in the Beano.

What should they do instead? Write poetry?
I encourage you to watch the complete video [9:00]. It is narrated by Alain the Botton, a great philosopher in London.
Spoiler alert: Marx has been misrepresented by dictators.
I am unable to watch anything now, but I might consider taking a look at it later on.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the TED speech of this billionaire banker.
[I just read your previous post. You're welcome to save this for later as well. It is a five minute watch.]
Not all people have access to money. Those factory workers, working 60 hours a week, still won't be able to vote with their hard earned cash.
This is why we need to re-think Capitalism. The current system is neither good for the planet and society as a whole.
Marxism? Woah. I guess that we do not share the same political philosophies, to put it mildly.

Why should I trust a report from a corporation with that reputation?
