Ah, come on, Aston is not IOS.... IOS would be more like a Porsche. Most porsches aren't the fastest (though they're close to fastest), but they've very refined driving experiences. Though the 911 GT3 are no slouch :-), and ONLY 131K....
You can't isolate the word 'burner' because it is a phrase that needs to be taken in it's entirety. To paraphrase <span style="line-height:1.4em;">sog35, if the terms 'Kraut burner' or 'Taco burner' were used it wouldn't be taken as a </span>
compliment<span style="line-height:1.4em;">. Nor should it. How about the phrases 'Jew'ed him down' or 'N_gger rigged' - are these complimentary to Jews or Blacks? How about 'Guido mobile' or 'Hillbilly rider'?</span>
<span style="line-height:1.4em;">The bikers you talk about - people often use sayings they don't realize have a racist origin even when they are trying to say something nice, but it </span>
doesn't<span style="line-height:1.4em;"> make it right. That's why I said think before you speak (not to you).</span>
<span style="line-height:1.4em;">Please make no mistake, terms like these are racist.</span>
The big difference is that 'rice' isn't an ethnic slur
I have worked for a Japanese company for nearly 20 years and have absolutely not one racist thought in my brain. Rice is not a racist term any more than rising sun is a racist term unless it is used in a context of malice.
Not to belabor the subject but 'rice' all by itself is not racist but the phrase 'rice burner' was born from a derogatory context and is. Think of the meaning of the saying not the individual words.
I hope in your joking around with your Japanese friends that they are not laughing with you to be polite even though you inadvertently said something that was culturally insensitive. People often think they're being clever or funny but in actuality are displaying ignorance.

When I read that article about Apple Exec cars, I was astonished by how inefficient the Aston Martin V12 in the DB9 is compared to the engine in my Honda as it only produces 74bhp per litre vs 99bhp.

Coincidence that they reduce their prices just as the balance of trade figures are announced revealing Swiss exports have taken a big hit from the sudden and massive appreciation of the Franc? I would say the reduction in prices has absolutely no connection to Gear whatsoever.

I think it's more a case of just selling smart watch functionality to the Tag Heur user base. Do you think the ?Watch will get many Tag Heur customers to switch?

Did I somehow miss the news of a rush of high-end Swiss watch makers announcing price cuts?
Just because its not offensive to you does not mean its not offensive.
Would you go up to a Mexican and call his car a Bean-Mobile?
I'm part Japanese and I have many relatives that are 100% Japanese and they view it as a racial slur.
I am sure you did not mean to be offensive but it is offensive to many Asians.
Why don't you try to point out your indignation at a phrase offensive to 'many Asians' without using a phrase that's offensive to Mexicans? I get what your doing here... you want to deflect negative attention off of you and put it on the Mexicans instead.
I'm just having a hard time seeing how they would display much useable information if the movement took most of the space on the face. A transparent display would be cool, but that technology is still a way off.
A voice controlled UI would be one way around it, but a lot of information is easier to just read at a glance. Should be interesting to see what the come up with.
Samsung have translucent and flexible OLED displays now.

Perhaps they aren't as quick on their feet or quite so pragmatic.
You do seem to have missed the Patek Philippe announcement - which I think you would agree has nothing whatsoever to do with Android:
Quote:
Swiss watch brand Patek Philippe surprisingly lowered its prices here last month, despite currency movements that suggested more expensive timepieces were inevitable.
The move is not part of a discount campaign but about harmonising global prices in the wake of some wild currency swings, industry sources said.

Umm... ooohky... the first two images are bland (especially without a band. The last one is still just butt ugly.
Somebody needs to visit Wikipedia...
Still waiting for you answer about Wikipedia buddy. Funny how that goes huh! Next time do it yourself first.
I predict all these companies will lose everything they invest in this trying to compete with Apple.
True, but in the meantime these old recognized firms will lend more credibility to what Apple is doing.
Thats your opinion. I'd rather have a R34 GTR than any of those old hag Aston Martins that probably will need maintenance every other week.
Nissan = Android, Aston Martin = iOS.
The R34 is for people who care about specs.

Wow I haven't heard the name Datsun used for decades ... I had an old Datsun 1200 Coupe as a student. It was fine as long as I didn't have to stop.
I bought a used Datsun 210 and drove 5 years. It's a stick shift

Tag Heuer announced some major price reductions today (http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/03/18/lvmh-watches-tagheuer-idUSFWN0WJ01H20150318) blaming the Swiss Franc.
Coincidence? I think not.

I agree. I've been saying this all along. Who's going to pay a lot of money for a crippled device?

This Datsun would rape the living shit out of an Aston Martin.
Heh heh, I am guessing this is a prelude to their grand announcement of a 'smartwatch partnership' with Nokia/Microsoft in a couple of weeks....
