People always say such things in every election, and nothing ever happens.

Remember how many liberals were going to leave the US when Bush got elected? Some famous liberals even made such statements. I don't recall them moving, unfortunately.

Remember how many conservatives were going to leave the US when Obama got elected? I also don't recall any mass migration of people when that happened.

The same thing will happen now, regardless of who wins. For most people, it's all talk and virtually zero action.<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Lets see you have Hillary Clinton, who has shown little sympathy towards others that committed the same crime as she did (mishandling classified documents) -- were given fairly substantial prison sentences.... but then there are two laws.  My sibling (Ambassador of a Commonwealth country) visited a month or two ago and the expression/comments she made when the emails with specific codes at the top were released -- basically said that if they did what Clinton did they would be in gone and charged the same day.  Information does not even need to be officially classified to be "

classified" there is a set of conditions that if met are considered classified until declassified regardless of being marked as such.

Then you have Bernie Sanders who is an avowed socialist about as far from the center of US political spectrum as you can get without being a "communist".

Then you have a loud mouth schnook Donald Trump that was a Democrat and is closer to democratic positions on a wide number of social conservative litmus tests - that for some reason is being treated as the second coming of Reagon....

....  yeah, wonderful selection of wingnuts you have down there in the US.

again -- the RNC, who effectively is the GOP, organized the debates. both debates. youre suggesting theres a conspiracy, which means you believe the GOP is sabotaging GOP candidates. that...doesnt...make....sense.

If the current occupant of the WH got elected twice, then the bar is set extremely low, and practically anybody can become POTUS, including Trump, who is far more qualified than the current POTUS. It is you who should prepare themselves for disappointment should Trump win. That would be so hilarious. I bet that certain liberals will commit suicide. For real. I remember reading about at least one genius liberal committing suicide when Bush won.<img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

As for the RNC, yes they have definitely been sabotaging certain GOP candidates that are not a part of the "establishment" and who they do not want to see elected.

What is there to defend? The interpretation of what an analyst projection is? There's nothing written here that successfully argues the other direction. Nor does Daisey write anything mind blowing. Dan actually spends too much time strawmanning about Google and other companies while Daisey is comparing Apple(s) to Apple(s). The "Yeah well look at these guys over here!" argument is pointless. The "Yeah well their Mac business is more than *insert revenue of other company here*" is also just wearing down his poor keyboard with nothingness.  The droll Apple piece is simply talking about Apple relative to Apple. Anyone with a reasonable reading comprehension knows that. And yes, I clicked on it and read it thanks to Dan.

Edit: And on the subject of bias, and accusing people of being Apple haters. I'd love to know just how much money the author and writers of Apple Insider has invested in Apple. What percentage of their portfolio is Apple? Is there an ethics standard for this website? They spend so much time accusing other people of terrible ethics and undermining journalism.

Have you any examples of them intentionally lying when writing a story?  (not just bias, I mean corruption).  Any organization that hires a person that is proven to be corrupt - is demonstrating their standards by doing so.

    Further update …

as expected by both me and him, Jake321's comment has also vanished now, as have a number of comments from other people making similar points.

Readers are being censored for mentioning Mike Daisey's appalling track record when it comes to Apple, they are also being censored from pointing out that any negative comments have been deleted.

Geez this can be an article itself.

Good Stuff. This is the kind of article I like to see in AI.

Daisy was a douchebag in Seattle who worked at Amazon and then trashed that place and got some success.

At least in that case, Amazon really is a hellish place to work.

But of course, Apple is more famous and so, why not make shit up about Apple?

But the thing is-- he's basically your standard issue Sanders voter.

He can't tell reality from fantasy.

    Why oh WHY??

The first comment finds an excuse to bring politics into this. Smh.

    Is this sarcasm?

Fox has been PROVEN by several non-partisan and even non-American companies to be wrong MORE often than any other 'news' source.  People who DIDN'T watch had more correct information than those who did.

This has to be a joke.

    Nitwit? You mean dragonfly. ;)

SCNR as the thread apparently goes down the politics drain...

Edit; it seems you edited your OP or did I so much wish to have read "nitwit"?

This election is getting me worried about the global financial picture as well. If any of these blowhards gets into the WH it could start a world wide financial crisis. The Euro, and the Yen are already a disaster, the dollar could be next. All of my investments are in dollars but I would like to liquidate as much as possible into junk silver. Hard to store or move but at least the value will not go down. The thing about junk silver, which is old pre-1964 US coins, is it is still considered legal currency so you can move $10K without reporting it. That is about $200K in value.

Let's not mix politics into this - it's completely irrelevant.   There is absolutely no relationship with love/hate for Apple and what one's politics are.  We have people on here on both the ultra-conservative right and the very liberal left.   We've got NRA members and members of Occupy.   I happen to be a leftist, but I think Daisey is a dishonest idiot.

Daisey is an incompetent ass and frankly, I don't even think AI should have responded to his ridiculous article.   It just gives him more credibility - it's like responding to a Ku Klux Klan member or a Holocaust denier.     The fact is that no one knows what the future holds for Apple, least of all Daisey.   There could come a time when the industry stops making progress in new smartphone features and it becomes far less desirable to buy a new phone every year or two.  Just as computer sales have slowed over the years, so might smartphone sales.   I think Apple is smart enough to realize this and in all those facilities they seem to be building and ever-expanding, there are probably large teams of people working on both the rumored new product lines (cars and TVs) and ones we haven't even thought of yet.   As I've posted before, I've always thought that Siri was the first baby step in what will eventually be A.I. related products.  I can see Apple being primarily a robotics/A.I. company in 20 years even if they don't become a car company.

While it's true that Wall Street only cares about growth and if Apple's earnings ever declined, the stock would sink, it's also true that Apple would still be an amazing company at half its size.

I'd be far more worried about Samsung, Sony and Microsoft, among others, than Apple.   I'd even be more worried about Google.   I think the day is going to come that between ad blockers and user sentiment, the Google Ads model no longer works.  What happens to Google then?  What's their revenue stream aside from licensing revenue on Android?

There is a lot room for growth in the home automation space so HomeKit and ?TV could eventually be huge.

While having DED deconstruct the nonsense of Mike Daisey is a little like kicking a dead whale down the beach, it's still nice to see Daisey taken to task for his stream of lies and sly innuendo.

The reality is he got paid to write lies and sly innuendo. No matter how many times he is taken to task for this, he will be paid to repeat, repeat, repeat.

The clicks generated by the article brings in cash to The Guardian. The Gaurdian's lawyers most likely read the piece and authorized it for publication after making enough edits to prevent any legal retaliation.

On another note, I am surprised CNBC and Fortune have so far chosen to not propagate the article as truth. It looks like I might just have to apologize for my earlier comments about them. Then again...

He's clearly a fat useless biased prick who needs to make a lot of money to feed his face.

Other useless biased pricks become journalists, so why shouldn't he.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I usually like the Guardian but this is ridiculous.

I voted with my feet and unsubscribed. I encourage others to do the same.

The Guardian is unashamedly left-wing but isn't far left. It has more articles on kale than communism.

If you want British news with a far-left bias, pick up a copy of the Morning Star.

The British press sure seems to be anti Apple and I am not sure why. Whenever I read a British story I know immediately that it will be clickbait and very anti Apple to the point where I don't even read those stories anymore. They don't have a dog in the game so I just don't understand it.

    Yes
Interesting point you make about those that have more correct information.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Betteridge's law of headlines... (at least I didn't see it by name)

"Apple spins impressive narrative of success, but are there holes in the story?"

    No.

    fanboyism?  Don't think so.

Please point out anything DED said that is FALSE.  Its not fanboyism if what you say are FACTS.  Telling FACTS is not being a fanboy.  That's called reporting.
Not exactly. I think some here have complained at times about cherry-picking facts rather than painting the entire picture. Look at the Dems and Republicans for examples of using real facts to spin a false narrative. Not of course saying that's what DED does.

You give them (CNBC and Fortune) too much credit for timeliness. They'll get to it next week.
