Just discovered this last night while trying to order a Synology RS820 NAS and 4 8TB drives. B&H Photo won the gig instead and I got my 3% (which amounts to cutting my sales tax in half). They already have the g’vmt hassling them, why go after each other?
This is Amazon practically begging to be investigated for monopolistic business practices.
this is just a glitch. Not a big deal as glitches go -- an annoyance for sure though.
But, this goes back to the real issues -- program correctness.
Takes me back to the 1970's and the computing scientist I most admired -- Edsgar Dykstra -- who was the most vocal proponent of proofs correctness and designing languages and programming methods to decrease programming bugs. His invention? Structured Programming, the invention of semaphores, and "No GOTOs".
And, as a mathematician, he beat the dead horse of the Pythagorean theorem with a most beautiful proof generalizing on this well-known piece of geometry.
To the extent to which the current complex systems are as good as they are we can attribute to Dykstra -- at least, I do.

Do some reading before you embarrass yourself and expose your ignorance again. The issue is now fixed. It was not intentional. It was a glitch. it was not “monopolistic business practices”.
Mine is now working. It appears as an option and when I make it default it merely requires re-entering card number. This problem has been growing. Early in the week I was notified one of my purchases was rejected. When I re-established Applecard as default it worked. Yesterday it did it again and I could not re-enter, today it seems to work.
AMAZON is EVIL! Walmart is same to me as don't accept ApplePay. Costco,Target and rest of retailers are better who accepts ApplePay for customers convenience. Once my Driver license and Passport goes on iPhone; don't need to take wallet with me. Let me be free of plastic cards.
That’s why I don’t shop there.
All the way with you.. You know, I would support Apple starts online shopping service..

That's a smart move.
For me, I avoid any vendor who doesn't accept ApplePay. As for Amazon, Typically, unless you need quick, 2 day delivery, they just aren't in EBay's ball park -- I find better stuff at lower prices on EBay. (although lately I've been using Amazon to order bulk foods like steel cut oats because that keeps me out of specialty stores).

I stopped carrying a wallet almost a year ago and haven't missed it.
I have a nice wallet case for my iPhone that leaves the screen open like a regular case but has a flap in the back where I keep my driver's license, a credit card and a few dollars of cash. I avoid using both the card and cash and try to use Apple Pay as much as possible (even restricting where I shop), but they're nice to have just in case.
But, I totally agree with your main point that Apple should add a feature where we can keep driver's licenses, medical cards, etc. on the phone.
At one point I was stuffing a big bulky cell phone/palm pilot combo, a work phone, a pager, big ring of keys and a big fat wallet into my pants. Now I'm down to an iPhone and its wallet case -- that's much nicer -- and often I just have my Apple Watch which takes care of about 80% of my needs anyway. I'm surprised it hasn't caught on as much yet. But once you get used to it, its much better.

Costco accepts Apple Pay, but not the Apple Card as a form of payment. They don’t accept any MasterCard from any bank. Just wanted to add that since the article is about issues with Apple Card and Amazon.

That must be a US only thing. I've used both Mastercard and Visa at Costco in the UK.

Same here (Canada). My Costco card is a Capital One Mastercard.
It's Monday afternoon. My card is still not available. Amazon customer service is supposed to call me this evening with a solution. Let's see what happens.

I am in the US. Costco.com accepts MasterCard but not the physical warehouse stores here. Doesn’t make much sense honestly.

Even Amazon’s spokesperson confirmed it was a glitch they were working to resolve, not a sensational “removal”.
