Arlo is introducing new subscription service plans for its smart home security cameras, including new emergency response services.

For users of Arlo's cameras, two subscription service plans are available, offering additional features and value. The plans are broken down into Arlo Secure and Arlo Secure Plus which will run users $9.99 and $14.99 respectively.

Arlo Secure supports an unlimited number of devices with cloud recording for 30 days at up to 2K resolution. Other benefits include AI object detection including packages, people, and vehicles and support for rich notifications that animate to show what triggered the alert.

The service can also be had for a solo camera for $2.99 a month.

For an additional $5, users can subscribe to Arlo Secure Plus which ups resolution to 4K and rolling 30-day cloud recording. It also includes emergency response service. Arlo customers can have the necessary emergency services dispatched to their home in the case of an emergency. Agents will continuously update both users and emergency services via the Arlo App, SMS messaging, or a voice call.

Emergency agents are available 24/7 and can verify the emergency before calling the fire, police, or medical services to cut down on false alarms.

New Arlo purchases will come with a free three-month trial of Arlo Secure Plus.

Many of Arlo's cameras support Apple HomeKit including its video doorbell, Pro 3 Floodlight cam, and Arlo Ultra. Arlo's subscription offerings bring additional features not supported by Apple's smart home platform including monitoring, 2K and 4K resolutions, and more.

This seems to be a remarketing of Arlo's current service subscription, Arlo Smart. I use the Smart Premier plan which covers up to 5 cameras and includes the 911 Emergency service; the rest of the offerings/price match up: Arlo Smart Premier = Arlo Secure, Arlo Smart Elite = Arlo Secure Plus. So in short, I give up 911 service in Smart for unlimited cameras in Secure. Personally, I prefer the former at that price.

Yes, they’ve restructured the existing plans but added the live monitoring. They never had live monitoring before. They offered e911 which would connect you to that local 911 services if something was going on, but this doesn’t require you to call. If something is happening, a live agent will see it and step in to contact emergency services for you. Like ADT would with a security system.
