So with the 3d scan of your ears for the AirPods and know the 3d scan of the face for the Vision Pro (FaceID is only stored locally!) ... Apple know gains the looks of all the users buying into the ecosystem.

2024 is much closer to 1984 now.
Incorrect nonsense. FaceID converted to a hash and stored locally. Try again

Hehe. Who's going to tell humbug1873 about the surveillance culture of today?

Like, your face, fingerprints, PII, income, family, spending, location habits are all known to the government or can be known with just a little effort? Not only that, the media be it social or traditional are designed for enragement, not delivering information. It's mostly promoted propaganda, made-up tabloid stories, and time-wasters?

Apple? Yeah, the biometric ID is just a bunch of randomized numbers which are useless for reconstructing what a face or fingerprint looks like.

Are they going to use the M3 or stick to the M2? They couldn't announce it with the M3, but would make a ton of sense to switch it to M3 for the release.

You could use two hands. Have a cursor button that activates a text insertion point, place the insertion point with your eyes, pinch and slide for selection. 2nd hand could be used to scroll for text outside the view.

The simplest thing is just to use a trackpad or mouse. Input focus could be follow eyes (same as focus follows mouse) or could be focus follows selection of view. macOS uses focus follows selection or focus follows click, whatever you call it.

Apple will have to define input gestures beyond just a pinch as well. Like, what if you need to scroll a lot? Is that a pinch with circular motion? Once something is selected, what's the gesture for popup menu options for that selected object?
There are a lot of possibilities with hand/eye tracking to make some things much faster, they can do selection like:

    - pinch to start selection
    - look at start word, pinch
    - look at end word, pinch

This can highlight the selection and display end handles if the selection needs to be refined.

For scrolling they showed pinch drag so like momentum scrolling on iPad but they can have gestures for faster movement.

One of their usage examples with the Mac shows the cursor on the right. This will be great to work with vs the small 14" display. The laptop can be off to the side, lay back on the bed with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse/trackpad and have a giant wall-sized Mac screen.

The triumvirate of Me Too Qualcomm, Google, and Samsung have announced their shameless Apple Vision Pro copy release time is indeterminate like the M2 killer.
