Does anyone think that a spinning CD might be too distracting sitting right under the moitor like that? In the right mood (or wrong one) small stuff like that drives me crazy. If I want to listen to CD while working on a paper, noticing that spinning disc would make me insane! A small sliver of a window, OK, but a large window is too distracting. Then again, I'm usually wired full of caffine and sleep deprivation whenever I'm actually working, so it might be an atypical experience.

For real anoyance you could shine a Halogen torch at the spinning CD and watch the rainbow reflections fick around the room
I was wondering about it being distracting too, though. The spinning CD I mean. So a sliver, like in the TAM, exposed, OR a frosted (slightly translucent, not totally--like snow iMacs?) "disc window" could be a solution to that. Some CDs not only are ugly, but could be distracting when spinning at 40x or whatever. That would also serve to hide the arguably ugly CD-reading hardware when a CD was not in the drive.
Motorolla is stuck at a 500 MHz chip speed, making pscates' Illustrations very slow. Supposedly, new 1.2GHz chips will be installed in him tonight, and we can expect those drawings tomorrow.
pscates, hurry up, your mock-up may be the only new iMac we see for awhile. I still dread the thought that the new iMac turns out to be a speed bumped 'Snow'
I'm working on a new iMac based on the TAM with a translucend CD window. Depending on how i like pscates' version, I might finish it and post it here as well
got an interesting mix of a TAM and a studio display.
Thay say it came from their "contact."
Pretty poor rendition, it makes the other mockups look GREAT, but if this were the design, it would be pretty cool. While I'm liking the verticle load idea, you would have to make any secondary drives slot load on the side, or slot/tray load undernieth. Of course, with an imac, you don't really need a second bay at all.

The new iMac will look exactly like the old one. Except it will come only in snow.
*badgers pscates to hurry up*

As always, it's all Motorolla's fault.

Looks like it was drawn in Appleworks, uglyest thing I've seen in a long time.
That SpyMac design is good.
FOR ME TO POOP ON!

Great mockup.
Not bad at all.
Anyone care to mock up the louvered slot load concept explained in this thread.
pscates... still waiting... You must be Steve, making us wait like this. arrrgh!
So enjoy this one instead. I like his leg/stand idea better anyway!
Good job!
