I'll second that. Is the keynote going to be webcast? If so I'll be watching. G5 Cube would be so killer.

The Soldam is slightly tilted to allow the intake hole on the bottom to suck in more air. And yes, it does have an AGP slot. Quiet? Well, it is extremely well built, a lot quieter than most SFF PCs out there but definitely not silent.

Alert! cMac idea again! Basically, I go along with you. One-two exceptions: I don't think full-sized AGP will be necessary, as long as you bundle it with a good video card and make another one BTO. Two: I wasn't planning on PCI slots, but I suppose we coud get 'em in there. Also, I had planned for it to look like a headless iMac, only bigger in the G5 model.

$524 G3, $629 G4, $1,724 1.5 Ghz G5. Why so much for the G5? Because I think it should have 512MB RAM, being a semipro model after all.

Have you ever heard that non-english keyboards (german, french, ...) use the QWERTZ instead the QWERTY keyboard layout? Beside the Z/Y switch also "#%& an so on are on different keys...

Who did this. It's amazing. I say they build it, even the display (yeah right!) That would be so cool though, if everything else could be made to work.

    Haha.

A new Cube. Rumor posted by MOSR.

Please. There will never be another Cube. It's gone. And I doubt that Apple will even ever make an expandable consumer-priced tower. Would they really want to give up the prospect of being able to sell people a brand new computer every 2 years? I mean, if SJ had his way, we wouldn't even be able to upgrade the RAM, everything would be securely soldered in place and sealed up.

Well, you know, if Apple would ship a generous amount of RAM in the first place, that might not be such a bad arrangement. The odds of things going wrong are that much lower, and most people never upgrade RAM anyway. Ship an iMac with 1GB, and who cares whether it's soldered down?

But while they have to let the dealers ship machines with 256MB FREE!!! in order to all compete on minimum advertised price, that's not going to happen.

If Apple released a cube that didn't look as good as the original, it would be a mondo disappointment.

The Power Mac G4 Cube is the best looking computer that has ever been made.

Erhmm... QWERTZ is a german-only system. French people use AZERTY. In Spain they have yet another system. And so on ...

    Tiger Direct product page ...

Warning, Will Robinson! See that fan atop the CPU? Noise and cooling problems lie directly ahead. The genuine Shuttle products have a liquid-cooling system.

The Shuttle form-factor is very popular in the PC world. People are tired of huge cabinets. I myself may get one when the Athlon64 models show up.

As for Apple making a G5 Cube... I'll see it when I believe it.

    And of course it's not a G5, it's a well-made cabinet for a standard G4 Cube core.

I'm sticking with acrylic. It looks better.
