I would have to agree... a second optical drive... or maybe just a SuperDrive that can burn a CD at a decent speed... I can get half a terabyte into the current enclosure, so the MO drive is my next desire inside the case...
Does anyone know why they cannot get a SuperDrive to burn at 48x or 52x? The current CD write speeds SUCK. What is the limiting factor that I am missing?
My Yamaha in my MDD can burn a full CD in under two minutes. The same CD on the MDD SuperDrive takes three to four times that long.
yup, and it works fine under classic on a 3 year old powerbook so it should fly under classic on a G5 tower.
anyway Quark is having compitition of Adobe CS.
adobe CS (photoshop/indesign/illustrator/acrobat pro) is much cheaper than Xpress 6.0 alone, (well, in the old world that is. a copy of Xpress6.0 sets you back 1999 euri (no joke))
an upgrade from photoshop 5.5 is even less.
It works most of the time on my Cube as well, but I do notice problems with scripts. I believe that there are/were problems with printing as well. I do know that some of the large publishers are still requiring their vendors to use Quark 4.11, and for stability of workflow OS 9.2 is still the preferred OS for people that are working for these companies (Glencoe/McGraw Hill, Pearson Learning, Harcourt to name a few). Adobe is being considered, and at least one of the publishers that we work with has committed to Frame Maker for it's XML capabilities, however as of today the composition program that most of these companies is still requesting files in is Quark 4.11, not Quark 5 or 6 or InDesign.
They have been needing new displays for a while now. Maybe they will match the coolness of the G5's? Would be nice for $100 drop as well or bigger for same price...

i'm begging for a 20 inch low-end to save some money
oh, oh, that means that there are only 7 (seven, sieben, zeven, syv, sept, sette, siete) days to go till the all new monitors, PMs and the 460" PowerBook G5 comes out!!!!!

And you can say this next week, and the week after that, too. A 460" Powerbook is somewhat large for my taste. It's 14 yards diagonally (about 12 meters). I'd have to keep it outdoors, along the long edge of my lot. It might be popular in the advertising industry.\

Hmmm...I wonder if they could make something like that waterproof...

I don't yet believe it, it's not even 6:00 in Cupertino. I'll give them 2 more hours.
cheers.

At what time does Apple normally announce new products?
When Steve says it's time.
