I wrote about this in another thread, but I'll just quote myself here.

Possible:
Sony/BMG music library will be sold exclusively from within iTunes, but there will be Sony pictures, and DVD links from within the store that lead to places like THIS
Apple may have this for all studios, but Sony/BMG.Music, and Sony Pictures will be united from within iTunes to give them the best, and most exposure possible. People will be able to order DVD's from their iTunes account.
Content is where the money's at. But Sony is holding the cards, not Apple. Excepting music, where iTunes is the cool place to be. My guess is that there will be a PS3 version of iTunes, and that will make sure that there are at least 30 million active users with 3-5 years of it's release.
The next hurdle is video. I've believed for some time that Apple QT page, and keynote broadcasts have had to be about something. What that is, how it will be a product eventually, I'm not sure. I have a digital cable box that can supply movies on demand, it's CPU has maybe a tenth of the power of currently shipping G4s, and it runs over cable.
Fast internet connections approach ubiquity, content providers have a parallel paradigm that works (iTunes), H.264 greatly reduces bandwidth requirements, the Mac mini sprouts a few enhancements (like a remote!) ...
It seems to me that iTV exists in some form over at Apple, and they have been actively taking it through various evolutions, philosophies, commercial models, etc etc.. as they wait for the technology to catch up.
Music, Movies, and Games have all been mentioned in this thread. I think music is pretty well covered. And I think we agree that a movie solution will be in the cards, once more bandwidth is available and the contracts are written up (boy, fighting with the movie studios will be 10x harder than the idiot-filled music industry).
But games... now that's an interesting area. MS has XBox, and they've already written a special version of windows that runs on PPC and the G5. Sony? Obviously there's cell and the PS3. And of course Nintendo is in the mix too. Will Apple ally with Sony or Nintendo? Once consoles and computers start merging more, who knows what will happen?! Games is the one content area that we don't see a clear solution for Apple.
The mac mini already looks Game Cube esque to me. In fact, where's the handle on the mac mini? I expected one to pop up the back just like the cube's pop out handle.
Apple shouldn't commit to any HD format. They've only just opened up their DVD-r to -rw/+rw: it's about F-ing time too! Yeah, yeah, these worked (but not in iDVD). They need to make sure that they get DL layer drives installed and working (fast) in all their machines -- if a third party can offer such upgrades for their laptops, then Apple can include it as standard equipment. Furthermore ALL pBooks, iMacs, and pMacs ought to come with a standard (base) superdrive, as for that matter, so should all but the lowest end iBook and eMac machines. iDVD/iLife is an integral part of the Mac, and without a built-in superdrive, iLife means nothing, so it's time for Apple to get off their asses and just include it in ALL the machines they sell, not at an extra cost, the current inflated prices should account for it already.
Once they do that, they can wait it out and see which of the competing formats actually wins out, and eiher include that, or get themselves a "universal" drive early -- that way no matter which format the marketplace adopts, they're OK.
Right now, it's more important to provide painless DVD piracy!
What he said was that they were waiting for blu-ray: "... and we're anxiously awaiting blu-ray dvd so we can burn our own hi-def dvd's as well" at about 52 minutes in.
This is likely just a small omission of HD-DVD, but it is conceivable that it could be a hint that Apple prefers BD to HD.
The CEO of Sony (the guy on stage) has said in the past that he doesn't care for Windows at all. I think that if given the chance Sony would make mac clones. But Apple doesn't want that anymore. So Sony is suck trying to make a buck in the PC world. Because that's what they do, make money.
Sony is the Apple of the PC world. If they weren't running windows, I'd buy one.
Well I didn't hear a commitment from Steve, but he did mention BluRay and that might be a endorsement in a minor way.
Why explicitly use the word "Blu-Ray" at all?
I'll give dollars to doughnuts that a Blu-Ray development effort is preparing systems for Xmas 05, along with the effort to implement HDCP-capable DVI.

DVI is a stop gap connect. I expect it will be rapidly phased out now.

He's making the plastics that will enhance said cooperation.

Now that I could see happening.

How's about Cell?

Actually, if you listen to the keynote carefully, you can hear Steve commit the Macintosh to the Blu-Ray format.

I remember it as a "once the format war gets settled, we're ready to roll" kind of comment -- not an an endorsement of either technology

And be replaced by what? SDI?
I'm not that tuned into digital video connection
standards, but if DVI is on the way out, I want
to know before I shell out $2000 for a new
video scaler.
