Xool: You only live once, right? I'm glad someone else shares my philosophy on tech purchases.
I use my Macs daily for work and play. Any increase in productivity more than makes up for the slight increase in hardware costs, especially when amortized across the life of the system. This is especially true with regards to RAM! At this point I'm disappointed because the MacBook Pro tops out at 2 GB.
Besides, with a faster machine I'll have extra time to post on AI and Digg. Money well spent!
I just got mine yesterday. I have to say, it's definitely cooler, and the fan comes on less, than the 3-year-old 800Mhz PowerBook G4 it replaced. It's amazing to me how much cooler a dual 2Ghz is than a single 800Mhz.
The airport reception is much better too. Several other wireless routers on my street popped up that I had never seen before. And everything, even in Rosetta, seems much, much faster. (Keep in mind that this is in comparison to the 800 Mhz G4).

Heh, this is torture. My MBP is at the dest. sort facility, not 30 minutes from me. They won't allow me to pick it up, though (or at least that's what I've been told on the phone). Oh well--I guess I should expect it Monday morning.
It's here. I'm typing on it right now. It's condition is simply pristine--this is my first Mac laptop. I almost don't want to touch its beautiful, aluminum skin. Alas, it's just too fun to use (and blazingly fast!)

The MBP will have too many hardware problems for me to buy the 1st generation ones. Hence why i am waiting. Typical apple, release a beta level first then fix it in the update. Such bollocks.

jpennington: I got the 2-3 day shipping, which is an additional $15. That was all they offered. I'm guessing it should be here before Weds.

The iMac intel is cooler aswell!
