Looks like I'll be waiting at least another week till it ships...Then another week or more for ground shipping. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> Apple sure likes to keep their customers on the edge of their seats!
Not the GeForce 4 Ti, but the ATi Radeon 9000 Pro. It seems like graphics cards are the main holdup at the moment. I'm actually surprised that the GeForce 4 Ti is causing such a long backorder(2-3 weeks), considering it's been out much longer than the Radeon(which has a 7-10 day wait).
I received my Dual 867 yesterday from microwarehouse, it only took one day to arrive. I was upgrading from a Yikes G4 400, so this is a huge difference for me. I am very pleased with the machine even if its a little louder than my previous G4.
Now I'm a little pissed. I'm seeing reports from people who ordered their dual 1 Ghz towers w/GeForce 4 Ti *AFTER* I did, and they've actually received them already! My order status still says "being assembled"... GRR.
I'll try an' give you a call tommorrow...I don't know for sure if I'm free saturday night....thought I was...but we'll see.
you lucky bastard...I want a dual ghz g4!
did you get a new display as well?
I'm eyeing the dual 867 heavily...I figure a dual 867 decked out with RAM and a geforce ti will run warcraft 3* really well, along with all my other applications.
*I'm on the second to last stage of the night elf campaign, and its sluggish as all hell....its becoming incredibly difficult to play the game now...cause all 4 races are involved in this large map with lots of giant battles.
Now Apple is backordered on Radeon's AND GeForce Ti's. My friend who I order my machines through called me today and I have changed my order. I have decided that the extra money for the Dual GHz is not worth it so I have gone with a Dual 867, Superdrive & Ti.

No... but I have an 18" Viewsonic flat panel display, so that's good enough for now. And no, it's not half as good as Apple's flat panels but... I already have it and I don't have the extra $1,000 for an Apple 17" flat panel. At least not right now.

Right. Should be perfectly acceptable, probably better than just acceptable.
I've got my Dual 867 setup and transferrring files from my old 867 QS.
I also have 2 22" Cinema Displays setting on my desk right now. pretty Cool. it's like a wall of pixels.
The bad part is that I have to copy 50Gb of files rom the QS to the MDD (mirrored Drive Doors) machine and it says "22 hours"
Tis is of course over a 10 base T ethernet connection. I'm dying to find a cossover cable to speed this crap up. i thought I had read somewhere that Apple's built in ethernet ports auto-sensed a crossover connection allowing you to use a standard ethernet cable for copying files. Or am I wrong?
To those worried about fan noise, I am currently sitting between a QS 867 and a DP 867 MDD and the QS are 10% louder than the new machines. Or the new machines are 10% quieter. At least in my case.
I'll wait until i copy all these files over before I dive into Jaguar.

Connect both computers with a firewire cable. Restart the older computer while pressing the "T" key. You are now in Firewire Disk Transfer mode, your older computer acts as a hard drive. Then drag over the 50GB of files .

I'm a newbie when it comes to firewire. The only firewire cable i have looks like it was meant to be plugged into a camera, (one end has a small connector).. so I can buy a firewire cable that has two big ends?

I'll look for those I guess.

For a little adventure, just pull the drive out of the Quicksilver and temporarilty connet it to internal ATA bus on new machine. Apple thoughtfully supplied connectors for 3 additional hard drives... No Ethernet crossover or firewire cable needed. This would be the quickest transfer too, I think.
