  • Patent licensing firm targets Apple's 3G cellular technology in new lawsuit

Weird how they're going after this at the tail end of 3G. At least AT&T appears to be discontinuing 3G about 6 months from now.

I have no idea why so many of you are 'bullying' me.

If you thing I'm a troll look at my post history in late 2014 to mid 2015. My post were 95% positive on Apple and Tim Cook.  Sales was sky rocketing and the iPhone was killing it. I rarely said a negative though about Cook. If I was a real troll I would have never praised Apple so much during that time period. I also praised the Apple Watch when it was released.

But since the release of the 6s it is clear that Cook has underperformed. This cannot be denied! Just look at the facts:

    1. iPhone sales down 15%
    2. iPad sales down 25% from peak
    3. Mac sales down YoY
    4. Watch sales down YoY
    5. Stock is down 15% from peak

Now their are numberous excuses one can make. But facts are facts and the last 18 months Apple has been losing sales, profits, marketshare, and investors have lost hundreds of billions in value.
You're a troll because you repeat the same whiny talking points every time you post. If you think you're helping, you're not just pretending to be low IQ, you are low IQ. I've seen what you post in 2014 and 2015, you're lying about your positivity.

The entire tablet market is down YoY.
The entire watch market is down YoY. Not just that, Pebble is OUT and Moto is not planning on a new model.
I could go on, but you're Gish galloping, people will refute what you say but then you'll carry the same refuted talking points to a different thread.

  • Samsung could have its own Apple Park with $5 billion, but has the ashes of Galaxy Note 7 ...

I don't understand what's going on. I'm actually a bit surprised that AI is still posting DED articles but that might be because it gets clicks. Because other AI decisions have turned it from a fan site that it was a decade ago to letting the forum become playground for Google partisans shitting on everything that Apple does, whether or not it's on topic, "because it makes the forum more lively".

And while I'm not a fan of DED's flagrant style, I do think it's worth pointing out how much the tech pundit industry is very biased against Apple. There's also a long standing practice that Apple gets shit on for doing X then a year later, competitors are praised for doing X, with negative credit to Apple for blazing that trail and normalizing X for everyone else.

Just disagreeing with DED's style of writing is enough to get you down-voted. I thoroughly enjoy all the Apple products I own and recommend them to others, but I do not need DED to constantly justify my purchases by bashing other companies in the style he does.
If it annoys you so much, have you considered not reading his articles?
Letting it go uncontested implies that the entire community approves of his behavior. His sockpuppetry, ad hominems, strawmans, etc. is simply sinking to the level of the Apple haters rather than helping promote or defend Apple. We can do better, and I think we should expect better of everyone, not just our opponents. We might never win over the haters, but returning evil for evil isn't the way to go, and the people "on the fence" can be swayed by our behavior too, positively or negatively, depending on the behavior.

  • Apple says clean Apple Card with a microfiber cloth, avoid contact with leather and denim

How about the Apple Card® Socks?
Knowing how this is going, I wouldn't put it past them to offer cashmere card socks.

    Story:
Interestingly, certain fabrics like leather and denim could permanently discolor the card's matte white finish, which is achieved through a multi-layer coating process. That same coating might be damaged if it comes in contact with hard surfaces or materials.

And apparently despite the (implied fancy) multi layer coatings it's at risk of discoloration from most wallets.

Jesus I’ve never seen so many people worried about credit card wear before. All of my cards are worn, and guess what? Do not give a shit. This is absurd. This is not a fail. This is not a problem for anyone except those without problems.
When they go to the effort of making a fancy metal card I think that changes the equation from any of the usual plastic cards.

Meh. Apple lost its way. The focus on iOS and the iPhone is killing Mac OS, the Mac, and other products. The pace of "major upgrades" to the OS just to sell the same device again every year is killing Apple's software.

The most successful product has become an addiction. Once the fad ends, what will Apple do?

All I see now is Wall Street games and a company "lead" by MBA mindsets and Peter-Principle executives (Ive, especially). It's not the company that convinced me to abandon PC/Windows for Mac in 2008.
Based on your thought train, I have no reason to believe you use any Apple products. The annual OS updates doesn't make anyone buy a new Mac or iOS device every year. If you use Apple products, you'd know that, suggesting that your opinion is not credible because your facts are false. Right now, my daily desktop is a 2011 iMac and it's up to date on the latest OS. And if for some reason it's not supported by this fall's macOS, I would still use it just fine. Being no longer supported by a new OS version doesn't mean the device breaks down. Right now my file server is a 2007 educational 17" iMac. The machine works pretty well.

People like you have been nay-saying Apple for several decades now. Maybe it's time to get a different hobby? Especially if you can't even get basic facts right on the company you hate.

    Seriously? "The old-fashioned Touch ID"?

Why use such loaded language? It's not old-fashioned, it's just different. Works better with masks, allows use under a table without being a distraction to others, and various other advantages. Sure, faceID also has advantages, but those 2 words are just oddly biased and completely unnecessary.

Read the sentence with other options, like "traditional", i.e.
The traditional Touch ID sensor is still in use below the display.

Or better yet, and more professional, no biased words at all, i.e.
The Touch ID sensor is still in use below the display.

Because there's a newer style placed on the edge on the new mini, for example.

I'm generally against making bubbles but it really does seem like the Apple haters are protected on what was previously an Apple enthusiast site, now it's wading through Apple hating BS on the forums. The haters will shit all over Apple on multiple threads, and even when rebutted they'll carry on in a different thread as if that never happened. But it's the ones calling them out on it that apparently gets the brunt of the moderation. So much cherry picking, pretzel logic and it's really insane, a handful of Apple haters really do have a run of the place. This used to be an enjoyable forum to participate in but increasingly over the years, it's like we have to put up with the acid wash from people that carry on like Apple is Always Wrong™. One certain individual seems to even have a fetish for telling us that Tim Cook is doing it all wrong and will bring it up in many threads not about Cook. There's a point that we don't need their kind of misinformed noise, seriously.
I don't see Apple haters running rife through the forums and the forums themselves are not a place of Apple evangelism. They are a place of discussion. To discuss the good and the bad. One person's good might be another person's bad and vice versa.

Even a person who is seemingly critical of Apple is very probably an owner of one or more Apple devices, and as such, perfectly entitled to express an opinion.

If you think there are true Apple haters here whose only goal is to bring Apple down, you can simply ignore them.

In the opinion based threads you will see just that, opinions. A broad spread of different opinions with some defended better than others, some more passionate than others.

If you perceive that there is more criticism of Apple or its products than before, then perhaps it is true and perhaps some of that criticism is justified.

The modifications mentioned in this thread seem more orientated to reducing abuse of some forum mechanisms (namely the dislike button), and not as a method to protect any one kind of user.

The explanation given was clearly explained and later defended and the changes themselves were fruit of a real, identifiable situation.
I'm addressing the claimed root cause of why this policy is changing, which carries over to the issues I raised.

I'm OK with people raising issues, the problem is how they tend to be raised, where people act like Apple kicked their puppy and they're going to go to Android now for some petty slight. The way they do it raises some astroturfing smells.

Simply ignoring the haters doesn't work. The poison is still there and it's being normalized. And even if you block them other people quote the poison.

Frankly, the level of intelligence would go up if mods would "man up" and dump SoG instead of protecting his antics.

People are entitled to have an opinion, but expressing them toxicly against the core theme of the supposed community here doesn't do this forum any good. This is allegedly an Apple interest site and I don't see why it should be allowed to be used as a platform for Google advocacy. There's other sites for that.
