  • Apple kept iMessage off Android to lock users in to iOS

    ppietra said:
Is this suppose to show any thing??? I mean, isn’t Apple supposed to build advantages for its own platform, to make its users come back?
iMessage being exclusive doesn’t even prevent people to message across platforms, nor does it prevent people to export old messages.
Totally agree with you. No company is obligated to develop for any other platform nor should they be.

I’m not locked, manipulated or mind controlled into Apple’s ecosystem. I like the experience and the fact that everything works together. I like the security and privacy practices. I like the way they push out updates to so many products years after they aren’t new and that the products still can run smoothly. The ecosystem is simply better than anything else out there.

Screw Epic. They only want money from Apple users by hook or crook. It’s funny how these companies and some developers think that Apple should bow to their wishes for a platform they built and spent billions developing and maintaining. Greed plain and simple. Everyone knows that Apple fans spend money. Lol.

They can do a store within a store thing and pay 2.5 billion a year for Apple allowing them to do it.

You’re absolutely right. Doesn’t matter if you should pay for the hosting service or the backend. Let me (Hey) advertise in your yard and other peoples’ yard but not give you anything for it.

Apple is the big bad monopoly nowadays. They built this thing from the ground up. It’s like some agency forcing Walmart to put Kroger stuff in their food department for free. Walmart should have the right to set the terms of store and if Kroger doesn’t like they should kick rocks.

It’s the sense of entitlement that kills me with this guy.

  • Senator opposes breaking up big tech, says Chinese firms will fill the void

Yes!! Force Apple, Google, Amazon to play nice, and have their own services/features on each other's devices. This will ensure that customers are not tied into an ecosystem and can use devices made by any manufacturer in any eco-system
I have to disagree with your thinking here. I’m with Apple because they aren’t Google. I’d like to maintain choice and freedom to choose which platform is best for me. I think that “force” is going in the wrong direction. I love the Apple ecosystem and the quality of life added because of their products. I like the values that they have instilled into their company. Most of all I like the privacy aspect and interoperability of all my toys.

America is freedom. You can choose the platform and company that best increases your quality of life.

There is definitely room for improvement but forcing companies to look like each doesn’t foster competition and does a disservice to us.

I applaud the Senator for his views on not breaking up these companies. I hope it spreads to others.

Just my humble opinion. No disrespect intended.

  • Russia to ban iPhones and all devices not pre-loaded with local apps

I’m thankful for the freedoms that we here. They really get taken for granted sometimes.

This could be a Cyber Security nightmare. Wonder what Apple will do. Pull out or stay on? They have to obey the laws of the countries they operate in. Yikes!!

I just checked around online and Spotify has about TWICE the number of paying users as AppleMusic. So he can act like a four year old (It’s Not Fair😭😭) all he wants but Apple Music doesn’t seem to be hurting Spotify.
Same. I don’t get it. All these companies seem like they want a free ride on Apple now.

How can you be killing it and still complaining?

    Greed.

  • Samsung mocks Apple for removing power adapters from iPhone boxes

It doesn't matter if Samsung mocks them. The iPhone 12 and mini are going to outsell them anyway. Charger or not.

  • TikTok can collect users' biometric data according to its new privacy policy

    Wow, wow, wow!

Trump might have been right on this one. Why would they need biometric data if not to use it maliciously??? Another “reading your clipboard” fiasco? Most people will not care unfortunately. I wonder if that is spelled out in plain English where it’s required “by law”? I don’t use the app at all and never will but damn. Hope this story gets picked up by news agencies and more people become aware.

I think it’s time for a federal law against biometric data collection to protect those in states which don’t have protections in place.
