  • Kuo: 2020 iPhone will borrow from iPhone 4 metal frame design

    So ... SE 2?  ;)

  • Apple owners would pay up to $600 more for a folding iPhone

Once again the self-appointed guardians of the Apple blogosphere impose their will on the actual Apple customers buying the products. It’s short sighted not to see the advantages of a folding mobile device.

  • Apple has made it clear how you should wear your Apple Watch

    One more thing

Apple Watch works whether you wear it on your left or right wrist, and it does so by rotating the screen to be the correct side up for you. In either case, Apple's preferred way of your wearing it has the Digital Crown on the side of the watch nearest the top of your wrist. You can use the same screen rotation feature, though, to put the watch on the other way around.

The vast majority of Apple marketing photos show the watch on the left hand, with the Digital Crown on the upper right side of the watch. Granted left handed people are a minority within the population, but I’ve rarely seen any advertising that normalize wearing the watch on the right wrist with the crown on the bottom left.

  • Netflix drops AirPlay support citing unnamed 'technical limitations'

Why should a Mobile Price option hinder the rest of us who pays the full price? Just turn off AirPlay on those who only has Mobile Plan, no?
Makes sense to me. Maybe it’s a bug. Time will tell.

Did Apple hold them back just in case the Bluetooth 5 spec were rejected and changed?
    Of course not.

So do the new MBPs have the hardware to support Bluetooth 5?
    Of course not.

Did you two even read the article?
They at least read the headline!

People...the god damn AirPods will be ready when they're ready. I don't know why everyone is so stuck on when these things will be released. I'm assuming there's some kind of production issue. There's a lot of tiny advanced technology packed into a small package. I'd rather they get it right than force something out that isn't quite ready and is taking longer than planned. This reminds me of the white iPhone 4.
People are hung up on it, because Apple screwed this one up badly. You would likely not be giving Samsung such a generous pass if they did the same thing. These AirPods were critical to the successful announcement of the removal of the headphone jack, and then like vaporware failed to materialize following the release of the phone, with no delivery date in sight.
  • New study on holiday wearables sales gives Apple Watch dominant revenue lead

Ah, Slice again, the private research company that came into existence at the same time as the Apple Watch specifically to analyze the Apple Watch sales performance through opt in web polls.
  • AT&T launches DirecTV Now streaming service with free Apple TV offer

Where's the link for the detailed channel list in each package? sog35, where is the info about no DVR and only 2 streams? No DVR is definitely a deal-killer for me. Only 2 simultaneous streams I could probably be able to work with.
Isn't the point of streaming video services that the content is ON DEMAND? You don't need a DVR. That's the whole point of the Apple TV. I've used a Roku that had a number of services activated, like CBS All Access, Amazon Prime & Starz, ABC, HBO Go, etc. And whatever show I wanted to watch was available to me whenever I wanted them. Is that not the case here as well?

If it's strictly love streaming then it's pointless.
  • Apple Watch 'Series 1' gets updated CPU, price drop to $269

$269 is still too much for Gen 1 watch. Should have been $199 tops. $80 is not really enough of a difference for the premium advancements made on Series 2. Oh well, it gives them some place to go for the holidays which should make the Gen 1 watch really popular.

"Can you imagine a 27-inch iMac where you have to reach over the air to try to touch and do things? That becomes absurd. You can't optimize for both."

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/devices/surface-studio/overview

Seriously, go to a Microsoft store and try one. It's pretty damn awesome and works well as both a touch surface and iMac like computer. I have loved Apple products, but it seems they have just way too much hubris now. They think if they can't do it, it cannot be done.
You don't even have to bring up the Surface. The iPad Pro is being sold with a keyboard and Pencil -- it may not be 27" but it's the exact same concept. Apple is being hypocritical and inconsistent here.

  • First iPhone 7 Plus teardown reveals larger battery, revamped internal design, faux speaker port, m

In its place, iFixit found what looks to be a non-functional speaker port.

Actually that is incorrect. The Taptic Engine takes half of its place.
To be fair, this is the 7 Plus. I doubt the 7 has anything like this bumper covering the fake speaker grille. They design the phone for the smallest size, and the larger size gets some extra space. But as you point out, not enough for a headphone jack.

still not a very innovative use of free space given their claims.
