Apple CEO Tim Cook rips into 'absurd' Wall Street Journal report on Jony Ive's departure
The WSJ talked to people and they said things. Not particularly flattering to Apple, but these things don't come outta nowhere. Certainly I would be a bit out of sorts if I had pressed my employer to make thousands of luxury gold watches that didn't get sold. It tends to invalidate your world view. The story totally let Ive off the hook though, repeatedly pointing to his desire to be with his aging father at home. I think it is pretty doggone humane of Apple to work with him on that score, even if the design of the latest phones suffered. -
Oppenheimer: Apple 'lacks the courage to lead the next generation of innovation'
AI, cloud services, and messaging. With a neural network API in iOS, collaborative work through apps in iCloud (not to mention option to put your home directory in iCloud), and a messages app opening up to third party extensions, to me it looks like Apple is working all three of these areas (and I'm sure there's much more in each one available to a diligent researcher. I'm just a casual observer). Does Oppenheimer have specifics about his vision of the innovative future (that Apple looks like it is already shaping) or is he just spouting buzzwords?

Microsoft unveils new Surface Pro ahead of Apple Mac & iPad Pro refreshes
I am really not that interested in hearing speed comparisons between Microsoft's not-released laptop and last year's iPads. To express my dissatisfaction, I am not going to read any rumor sites until June 5. Farewell, my friends, a bientôt, and auf wiedersehen (to the "re-seeing" when we meet again). And of course Cheers! 🍸 -

HomePod gains multi-user support, ambient noise generator, live radio this fall
I care about radio stations! The Homepod is the best speaker I've had in decades ... I would buy a larger one with super duper bass response! My Apple TV was nice while it lasted but then when it went kaput I didn't replace it. Just stopped watching! TV+ I would go for, especially if free. Sometimes you want to watch something more than a movie trailer. -

Danish court rules Apple not allowed to dole out refurb iPhones for service swaps
Apple has not designed its phones for easy repair. Why not? Because that would not maximize their profit. I've purchased several refurbs & they worked flawlessly. I've purchased a couple of new Macs and ... both were defective. Go figure. Maybe Apple should charge more for refurb, and not less, eh?
Pretty sure I am gonna get a Mac Pro 2, my question is this: should I get a new one or wait for a refurb? ;-)
