  • Apple Studio Display update may arrive a year later than expected

I wonder if they'd bump the size up to a 30" display? I would be nice to see 120Hz ProMotion. Or, perhaps they'll offer the same 27" Studio Display for a cheaper price ($1199 or something like that) and then offer a more expensive 30" Studio Display and then obviously the XDR display for a lot more. I would really like to have (2) 27" Studio Displays but I also don't wanna spend $3500 on displays lol. They'd be a lot better than the cheaper LG 27" 2k displays I have now.
Highly unlikely to be a 30” display since Apple maintains a 218 ppi with a 5k display being 27” while the 6k is 32”.  A 30” would mean a 5.5k display (weird) or Apple would need to drop the ppi to 196 and neither seems plausible.

  • Apple's next big thing could be a home robot

Interesting but nothing more than R&D at this time.   Maybe we see something come out in another 5 years.  I would think Apple would rather buy a robotics company that is significantly further along than they are.   Heck why not buy a robotics company since they wasted $10B on the Apple Car which made a little more sense as the prior rumours of an Apple branded TV set.

But I thought Macs were so efficient that they needed only 8 GBs?
    It was pre-Apple Intelligence.

Many closely watching Apple’s AI efforts expect their LLM to take up around 6GB of RAM leaving little for applications. Increasing RAM to 16GB provides far more headroom which will be crucial if the user enables Apple Intelligence.

This has been heavily covered by tech media despite the fact AppleInsider failed to mention it in this particular article.
So we actually need 24GB now with AI?

  • How Tim Cook gets Trump to help Apple

Don’t bother trying to put lipstick on a pig. The next few years will be bad for everyone. Cook’s relationship with the man known for stabbing his friends in the back will not make any difference.
Well history of the first four years of the Trump Administration proved you wrong and most Americans, via the recent election, disagree with you.

  • Lighter than normal WWDC expected without significant Apple Intelligence upgrades

Not surprising about the lack of much to say on Apple Intelligence at WWDC considering there was a recent reorg.  Better for Apple to not repeat what they did last year and instead concentrate on actually implementing great AI features.

  • iPhone 17 may have been spotted in the wild

If the guy gets fired as a result of AI publishing this picture you better believe he has a really good case. After all there is a reason Google Maps blurs faces.
This is really shitty behavior from AI, sorry. And saying “you’re out there, you’re fair game” is just gross. You guys really shat the bed on this one, sorry.
Why would he get fired he did nothing wrong? If he is tasked with going into the public and using the prototype iPhone then there is always a risk of this.  Because someone with a sharp eye takes a photo is not his fault.

  • Trump's 104% tariff against imports from China goes live

'Designed by Apple in California assembled in China'

    could now become

'Designed by Apple in California assembled in the European Union'

...might make happier a lot more people!
The EU is about the worst place to assemble a product.  Regulations are terrible and costs are high.

  • China escalates US tariff war by halting rare earth mineral exports

    DAalseth said:
China is NOT the only place on earth that has rare earth elements. Large deposits are in Canada, the US, Australia, and elsewhere. It’s just that China was the cheapest place to get them so the other sources have not been developed. It will take time to get the operations going, but the process was started during the first Trump term.
This is mostly addressed in the article. The folks we've spoken to about it say that spinning up rare earths in the US will take at least another five years, if at all.
Just another great reason to get some of this critical production out of China who is not a friend of the US or the West.  China imposing these restrictions will accelerate the development in other geographic regions to produce these rare earths, and that’s a good thing.
