  • Apple's future iPhone Flip - all the rumors about a possible foldable iPhone

So Apple has gone from Steve Jobs’s “I don’t ask people what they want because they don’t know what they want.” (which worked extremely well for years) to “We try to do better what others are doing already, even with limited interest.”
    Hmmmm.
Apple hasn't done that. This is a rumor site, publishing rank speculation. Apple won't be making this device, as there is no point to it beyond novelty, and there are plenty of compromises necessary to implement the novelty. I can't think of an example where Apple produced a device that was more expensive but inferior in every other way just to chase a novelty form factor.

Apple probably has been researching folding screens, but if one shows up in production, it'll be an iPad. There'd be utility in an iPad that folds for more compact portability. Unlike an iPhone, a folding iPad wouldn't be prone to quickly wearing out from neurotically opening and closing dozens or hundreds of times a day to check messages and doom-scroll social media as people do with phones.
That’s a relief that Apple will never produce a folding phone.
I never stated that Apple made “a device that was more expensive but inferior.” They only make superior products, but have turned from creating new ideas to improving on the ideas of others.

  • Tantalizing details of Jony Ive's AI device leak after OpenAI meeting

This is perfect. I’ve been looking for a way to remove the last shreds of privacy that I have. /s

  • OpenAI & Jony Ive's AI necklace rumored to have iPod shuffle form factor

So this is meant to replace ankle bracelets for people under house arrest, or are there other uses too?
It does seem to be the perfect way to broadcast every detail about you to the internet.

  • AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 get new beta firmware

Maybe someone can explain to me why the AirPods updates are always sort of a random experience. You put your AirPods near your phone which is connected to the internet and wait. Sometimes it updates, sometimes not. At least that’s been my experience.
Would it be so difficult to have a place where you can select “update” or not, like with all the other Apple devices?

  • macOS Tahoe review -- glossy changes mask genuine improvements

I hope they repeat all these articles about Tahoe when we can finally use it (not as a beta) in several months.

  • Unsurprisingly, iPhone 17 rumored to come in four colors including blue

It doesn’t matter what color a phone is.
In your (humble) opinion. Not all would agree with you.

I sure hope it's not that blue; because that blue is hideous. Not that I would buy the blue one anyway.
I agree completely. I think it’s a terrible color. Can’t Apple do better? Three standard colors and one . . . that’s awful.

  • Apple has officially killed off the Home Button

In fact, the introduction of the iPhone 16e also means that you cannot purchase any new Apple products that feature a Lightning port

That really is a milestone. I hadn't noticed that.

We need an in memoriam for that little guy. So much better than all the alternatives at the time.
THANK YOU. I know people are like "ugh Apple and its proprietary charging ports" but it was such an upgrade over the 30-pin, which was honestly a nightmare, and microUSB?? I still have a few things that use microUSB and they are one of the most "death by a thousand paper cuts" interactions you can have with a charging port. Especially on all-black electronics where the port is kind of obscured (like Bluetooth speakers and the such.)

I dunno. I do prefer USB-C, I think it's a far and away better than the rest of the USB lineup, and I do think its better than Lightning, but at no point in my life did I ever look at a Lightning charger and get mad. (Definitely can't say the same for the 30-pin or microUSB... and don't even get me stated on miniUSB.)
Yes, it was a huge improvement over the 30-pin connector, but the key word here is “proprietary”. I remember when the lightning port was first presented and Phil Schiller made a big deal about the courage it took Apple to do this. Yes, courage to invent a port that would require everyone, including headphone manufacturers (this was before Bluetooth was so common) to pay Apple a premium to use their connector. Courageous? Not sure. Lucrative? Very.
