Apple allegedly working on Siri stand-alone speaker with HomeKit integration
Apple do appear to been rather slow with this kind of device. Hopefully they will catch up the likes of Amazon.
I think Apple need to do more to engage with hardware manufacturers. I have a Tado heating control system and LIFX lights. The manufacturers have already embraced Amazon Echo first and only Tado has announced that it will be providing access to Apple Home. Unfortunately this requires replacement of the recently introduced Tado internet bridge version 2 with version 3. The v 2 bridge works with Amazon Echo without needing replacement .
l plan to try controlling my Tado heating using first Amazon Echo and in a month with Apple Home to compare how well each works.

Amazon working on touchscreen Echo speaker with higher-quality audio - report
If Amazon's recent attempt to introduce Echo into the UK is anything to go by Apple shouldn't worry. I ordered an Echo but had to return it as it would not connect to my BT Home Hub. The reason given was that the Echo could not connect to a dual band wifi router. BT provide something like 1 in 3 broadband connections, so that is a massive reduction in the customer base. Those luckily enough to connect then complained that many of the services available in the USA were unavailable in the U.K. A very poor experience from Amazon but at least getting a refund was easy.

Failed iOS 10 installs force users to plug into iTunes for restoration of 'bricked' device [u]
Installed ok on SE. Screen keyboard now makes different sounds when tapping. Sounds a bit naff. New App "Home" fails to identify my Apple TV 4. Both SE and ATV are on the same network. -
Apple's Beats debuts celebrity-laden ad promoting new wireless headphones
I am not sure about this ad. The sound quality seems low. I guess reflects the age of the original recording or is this to demonstrate the quality of Beats new headphones? /s -
Mirai-based DDoS attack highlights benefits of Apple's secure HomeKit platform
I have ordered upgraded wifi hardware for my heating system to make it compatible with HomeKit. The manufacturer has recently informed me there will be a delay with supply as it is taking longer than expected to get the hardware appooved. I guess this means Apple are not approving quickly. If Apple are serious about HomeKit then they need to put more resources into supporting hardware manufacturers. A similar view has been expressed about ApplePay in that Apple should be doing more to get the retailers on board. -
Apple TV and iOS gain unified television experience with new 'TV' app
A new apple app for TV is hardly big news is it? The Apple TV presentation felt like a waste of time, especially as the TV app will only work in the USA, at least for the near future. Apple could have made more impact if they reduced the presentation to 45 minutes and cut out all the filler. This did not feel like an innovative company making us all go wow.
