Flash is dead: Adobe announces end-of-life plans, will stop distribution in 2020
This is good news but getting already constructed websites to be updated may prove hard. I have had to write to my son's school many times when they have set web based homework using sites that require Flash. As an Apple only family my son has been unable to do the homework due to our lack of Flash on our iMacs. l believe this is discriminatory and may result in no marks. The school has always been good about the issue but the homework still continues sometimes to be Flash based. I expect most of the teachers have no idea about the problems with Flash and many owners of older websites have not got resources to update their web pages.

Apple demands specially-certified chips & factories for HomeKit devices, report says
My order of a HomeKit upgraded internet bridge for my Tado heating system was originally due to ship late summer 2016. This dated has slipped a few times. Yesterday l recieved an update from Tado:
We are just as excited as you to connect tado° to Apple HomeKit, and would like to apologise for the delay in launching the platform integration.
In the past few weeks we have been able to solve the challenges posed by scaling up the production of the new Internet Bridge. Now we are waiting for the approval of our partners, who are responsible for the certification. We expect this to be completed in the next few weeks.
The dispatch of the HomeKit-enabled Internet Bridges is expected to start in the second quarter of 2017.
Assuming that Tado has picked the right certificated partners, the process of getting an Apple approval may have taken close to a year longer than first planned. No doubt other manufacturers are also experiencing the same issue. -

Apple's first HomePod ads urge customers to 'order now'
I have just viewed all four ads. Apple should be ashamed, they are the worst ads l have seen by them.
The ads seem to be trying to use an old advertising trick of flashing words quickly to embed them subconsciously in the views’ minds. This Is not allowed for TV adverts in my country.
If this is the best Apple can do l think it says something about Apple’s low priority to the HomePod. Sorry Apple but this has created the wrong feelings in my mind about the HomePod. -

Apple can find a stack of avocados but it can't find giant letters sprawled on a pic? This is a huge peve of mine. And that would be something genuinely useful, especially for anyone under 30.
An app I used to use, Meme Generator, at one time automatically put user-generated memes into their own album. However, that functionality appears to have been broken since early 2016, based on what I can see in my own album. -

Video: Apple HomePod vs. Sonos One
I don’t get the idea of comparing sound at full volume as realistic. Who would try to trash speakers at full volume all the time? I would imagine that would typically be too loud, but if not then surely they should be buying bigger, more expensive, more efficient speakers that will be able to produce higher volume at much less than 10 on the dial? It’s my view a more normal everyday volume is no higher than 50%. -

French court denies Apple injunction against tax protests
Each country has its own culture and beliefs. A French friend once informed me that public protesting is considered a basic right in his country. Apparently it was traditional to hold demonstrations on Thursdays in Paris. I don’t know if this is still the case but l think it goes some way to explain the French court’s decision. They are probably upholding a French way of life. If Apple understands the importance of not generating bad PR they might want to consider thier position carefully before entering into further legal action. -
Apple HomePod sales 'underwhelming,' AirPods still growing, analyst says
foggyhill said:dachar said:I have been sitting on the fence over HomePod. It is possible l may be biased as l have a 7 speaker Sonos system that l love, but so far Apple has not convinced me.
Apple advertise HomePod as a powerful speaker with amazing sound that can adapt to its location and a music authority with an intelligent home assistant, capable of handling everyday tasks and controlling your smart home.
It seems the general views are HomePod sounds really good but the Siri Intelligent system falls short compared with other smart speakers. The thing is, however great the sound is, it is being marketed as an intelligent speaker yet it seems Siri is not good enough. This could have effected sales. The question is, will Apple improve Siri any time soon?
