If Apple wants to assert its right to a piece of third party transactions in Europe because it owns the platform, then countries can claim their right to a piece of their citizens transactions. 

Right...  Time to finally retire my 2013 27” iMac and replace it with this and a Studio Display. 

When all the competitors in a market segment compare themselves to Product X, what do I usually buy?  Yep, Product X.  

Greedy buggers. They will lose out on a ton of hardware sales because of the subscription model. But I guess they’ve done the calculus, and 5 years at $3.99/mo is worth a ~40% reduction in sales.

But I’ve got backup drives, a mic, camera, and the adaptor for my Logitech mouse that need the old port. I’m not going to throw them away until I have to. 

Or get some A-C adapters during the transition.  I bought a 4-pack and now only buy C cables. 

What I also like about this fitting underneath the Mini is that it lifts the air intake up off the desk a bit. Thus reducing dust intake. 

I’m waiting for the new Mini to come out to replace my 27” intel iMac. I don’t want to drop $3k+ on a Mini and Studio Display, but I want retina scaling and I REALLY don’t want a 24” screen. So what’s a guy to do?

I think they’ll still have blue and green bubbles. It’s just that the green bubble fallback option will be RCS and have more functionality than SMS. They won’t have the same level of encryption or the “surprise and delight” features like Memoji. Hence the need to still distinguish RCS from iMessage. 

As long as Banks don’t compromise the security of the system or  start mining data. I like the tokenized system where the merchants don’t get to see my actual card number, store it, then lose is in a data breach.

If you just need to manage thermals, grab one of the last M2 minis in the refurbished site or even a used M1. All you really need is something in the M series and your closet will be cooler.
