  • iPad wins again, Google cancels upcoming tablet products

Uhm, this is the opposite of a win!  The secret to great products is great competition - losing an adversary doesn't translate into a great win.  This is a pity and the battle moves squarely to Microsoft and its Surface line - who would have thought?

  • Jony Ive's departure follows years of dissatisfaction and absenteeism

Shame, I actually think he's just a guy missing his old friend Steve and was acting out when he didn't get the super-star attention he was used to getting.  Leadership is such a critical aspect of work that when you feel undervalued, it shows in unintended ways.  The other problem is that he was a top-level leader and he affected everyone working below him, so that's uncalled for.  I think it's probably best for him to step aside and let the company take on a different course.  Nobody is indispensable, it's time the other designers stepped up and filled those shoes.

  • Apple buys Intel modem business in $1B deal

Well, it’s about time! Qualcomm must be seeing the beginning of the end. On the hook to supply Apple with awesome tech as they watch the end of their relationship from the front row!

  • Google teases triple lens camera system and square bump on Pixel 4

Considering how much junk we get about Apple’s phones every year before release, I think it would be a good idea for Apple to officially tease as well. We already get a lot of correct details at least a couple months before the introduction. Apple could do a much better job of this while still controlling expectations, and possibly even making it less interesting for those who release info now.
I beg to differ, if you're actively looking for leaks, you'll find them. There's still a lot of value hearing and seeing something for the first time on stage - the wow factor never fails. However, if Apple were to consider making promises that don't materialize or underwealm - that could prove costly over the long run. This type of purchase is still emotionally driven and many people around the world don't follow or read insider news or leaks. Many probably visit Apple's website, catch the calendar invite and only watch Apple keynotes. In my view, that approach is hardly for people like us who frequent sites like appleinsider.com. When one sees a product too far in advance, leaving you with too much time to think might make people reconsider. I remember watching my very first Keynote from the launch of the original iPhone - never been blown away as much as I was then. Each year, I try my level best to avoid sites like this one months in advance or when I see anything to do with a "leak" - I simply skip over it to avoid getting any details - details create expectations, unrealized expectations ruin the experience of the final product. Works pretty well for me and each year, I'm satisfied with what I see on stage.

  • Review: The iMac 5K with Intel i9 & Vega graphics encroaches on iMac Pro territory

No concerns with the internals. I wouldn't give this 4.5 / 5 tho. The design is so dated I'd penalize it 1 full point for that. A machine bought in 2019 looking identical to something bought in 2012? If one looks at it from the front - then you can't tell it apart from an iMac bought from 2007!!! Come on - not cool.

  • Apple $7B behind in royalty payments to Qualcomm

I'm really, really not a fan of Qualcomm. I thought they were a real innovative company advancing the industry forward for a while. Now when I hear them extorting money from their customers in this manner, it's highly disturbing. I hope they lose every case they have, not only against Apple, but through others too. I just hope Intel and others can step up their game and compete on equal footing.

  • Hyundai and Kia confirm 'Apple Car' talks have ended

I’d bet Apple cut ties after the leaks were revealed and accidentally confirmed. Apple isn’t a fan of companies that break NDA’s. Just speculating - but probably not far off the mark.

  • Massive Facebook data leak connected to undisclosed 2019 breach

I guess there are no comments here because there's nothing neither surprising nor controversial when Facebook releases a half billion users' personal data.
Couldn’t agree more! Same old Nasty company that hasn’t a clue what it’s doing in security and privacy!
