The new Apple Silicon Mac Pro badly misses the mark for most of the target market
I think the Mac Studio is enough for a lot of previous Mac Pro buyers who needed the power but not the extendibility of the past Mac Pro, reducing the need for an extensible Mac Pro. In addition, the new SoC approach of Apple Silicon does not allow it to extend memory, which is probably a must have for buyers of this kind of machines. Because of this, I am a bit surprised Apple came with a new Mac Pro. This is not a Mac Pro in the same sense the previous one was. -
Apple Vision Pro vs Meta Quest heatsets - how the approaches compare
This feels the same way as when the iPhone was launched: all the other state of the art devices at the time felt instantly obsolete and clumsy. I have used the Quest a couple of times and was not impressed. I haven't used the Vision Pro of course, but just from the keynote and the reviews, it feels like you don't want to be one of the other guys. I can only imagine how they are rushing to catch up. -

MacBook Pro 16-inch M3 Max review: Battery-powered Mac Pro power
I think Apple changed how the industry used to think in the WinTel era: entry level chips for entry level laptops/desktops, mid power chips for high end laptops and mid level desktops, and high power chips for desktop/tower workstations. Apple's thinking is, you get each level of chip in every configuration: M series entry level laptop/desktop (MBA/mini/iMac), M Pro/Max mid level chip laptop/desktop (MBP, Apple Studio), M Ultra high end chip for desktop/ tower (Apple Studio, Mac Pro), with the interesting point of the last generation Max performance being similar to the previous generation Ultra performance.
The end result is the M3 Max MBP, compares nicely to M2 Ultra Apple Studio. Now you can have the performance you want, in the format you want. You could not do that before. -
What keeps the Mac relevant for Apple, despite iPhone dominance
I find it hard to believe that the Mac Pro outsells the Mac Mini and Mac Studio, though the article is not clear i they are counting dollars or units. Anyway, how would;d they know? I don't trust this "guesstimates" when it comes to Apple because of the tight control of Apple on their sales channels. -
