No, Apple, a slightly bent iPad Pro straight out of the box isn't acceptable
wanderso said:I will be happy to get a bent one for 50% off. .
I purchased a used iPhone 6 from a coworker recently for a family member. This coworker is meticulous about their things and has never placed their phone in their pants pocket. I had taken it to the Apple Store to have the $29 battery swap before the deal expires on 12/31. Apple performed an inspection in store and said “we may not be able to swap out the battery because the chassis is bent.” Sure enough, it was if you looked carefully. The 2nd tech who was to actually do the repair reluctantly gave it a green light.
I know that the 6 was part of “bend gate”. It makes me wonder if it left the factory already bent.
Based on my experience at the Apple store, I would be concerned to have a new iPad Pro where the same story might unfold without my happy ending. -
New OLED iPad Pro will probably cost as much as a MacBook Pro
I'm sure that oled screens are great and awesome. So is the screen on my $449 ipad. I just don't see where the marginal value of an oled screen will drive a higher net profit on ipads. Assuming the galaxy tab s8 devices have oled screens and are at current comparable prices, I don't see how the ipad pro models can justify a 60-80% price increase in many people's eyes. yes, some will buy it. however, I think the price increase also forces people down to the ipad air or regular ipad. -

ARM Mac Pro coming sooner rather than later, says Jean-Louis Gassee
I've always been an Intel fan. They always have just worked. I'd actually like to see a move away from Intel to ARM. I think Intel bungled their sizing of their chips too much in a competitive area, and that this change is justified. However, there is a secondary issue. Not all apps are available on Mac. Not all of these apps are on the Mac and no, don't try to say that there are "apps of the same quality" available because in some verticals, they just are not there. I have to run a virtual machine to run windows on my mac. Intel x64/x86 emulation is going to be horrible on an ARM mac. emulating one cpu instruction set on another cpu has always been horrible. -
Apple is working on at least two folding iPhone prototypes
My engineering brain says that the hinged area is always going to be a problem. A buddy has a samsung fold something. He loves it, but I never can get any info from him regarding what it does that is special. He is in the "anybody but apple" ideology.
I always question if the world will buy a more expensive iPhone, and each year I am proven wrong, so I'll bet that there is someone out there that will buy it in quantity. I bought a top of the line iPhone 15 pro max, so I know I am one of the suckers. -
