I am actually shocked that the Mac mini has been refreshed this quickly, after the previous gen taking nearly 4 years to get done. I bought the 4 core in April, with the storage refresh, thinking it would be a couple of years before the next refresh. Probably not the best time to buy.

My Macbook spends most of its time in clamshell mode. Face ID would be a waste.

the dongle seems like a good idea. I always felt the Apple TV 4th gen was "over-engineered" and too expensive. Most people want a TV streaming device. The fancy controller for gaming, and gaming oriented hardware is redundant for most people. The biggest issue facing Apple movie streaming at the moment, is the fact that one movie rental on Itunes costs almost as much as a month on Netflix. Hopefully Apples future streaming services will be more competitive.

they take around 10 minutes to charge. It does not matter if they do not last all day. The charging box is good for 25 hours. Unless of course you cannot spare 10 minutes , every  4 hours say

I suspect Apple do not buy Sony, as they are loss making(looked at 2020 balance sheet) . Their games division is not really a competitor to apple, casual gaming. They supply apple with camera lenses, but not worth buying. a loss making company just to get that. Sure, Sonys content would boost Apple TV, but you have to buy a loss making company to get the TV, and then you have the other divisions you do not want. Apple TV is in a crowded market, and its future is far from certain.

So the real winners are the lawyers. That is often the case.

Apple just take their profit from each transaction and pass the risk on to the banks. Seems like easy business, particularly if Apple can get all iphone users replacing their wallets.

Extra speed and use of the side button is welcome. Proximity unlock of Macs is very cool. I was hoping for some decent new faces, or even a watch face store, as I am becoming a bit bored with the existing faces 8 months in. Its a pity the best they could come up with was Minnie Mouse, to me thats just a novelty face, and I will never use it. I think lack of watch faces is a notable issue with the watch
