  • Apple acquisition reverses fortune of Shazam

Well, the article should say - 2017 revenue was $44.8 million, but with a $19.4 million loss. For 2018, revenue slipped to $34.5 million, (because Apple discountinued ads in the free version), but the company had a profit of $158.4.million.  Which is because they're counting the money they got from Apple for the sale of their intellectual property..but other than that, they were not profitable for 2018 either..

  • Apple's Emergency SOS feature foils attempted sexual assault

Looking at it now... The UI needs more details about what it actually does and when/how.

If you don’t list an emergency contact, does it still call emergency services?

Do you need to enable the Auto Call feature for it to work at all, or is that a variation on some default behavior?

Emergency SOS is always on, and it's programmed to dial 911 in the US.  And you can't change either of those settings.

On newer devices, you activate it by pressing the right button and one of the volume buttons. Hold them and a slider will appear, and then slide to call.

If you have the Call with Side Button enabled, you can get to the slider screen by only pressing the right side button 5 times quickly.

If you have  Auto Call enabled, then continuing to hold the right button/volume button will initiate the call without needing to use the slider. Instead you'll get a countdown with a tone. You can cancel if need be.

I believe it's best to have both features enabled which would allow you to activate with one hand, and not need to see the screen to use the slider.

Additionally, you can add an emergency contact who will get a text message after 911 has been called, and they'll get your location and updates if your location changes.

  • iPhone 16 Pro: what to expect from Apple's fall 2024 flagship phone

The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to be revealed at an Apple event in early September 2024. Pricing should remain similar, with standard models starting at $799 and pro models starting at $1,199.

Should be $999 for Pro then....

  • Apple's 2022 iPhone 14 Pro predicted to have hole-punch display

This year, at least one cell phone maker managed cover up the hole punch with visible pixels. It would be great if Apple lead the market on display technology rather than following it by two or three years.
The reviews on that phone all agree that the images captured from the "camera under pixel"  are compromised. Apple hasn't traditionally brought gimmicky, flawed or otherwise compromised technology to market just for the sake of being first.

Poorly written article at best.. “the "holy grails" of non-invasive blood pressure”.  Since when has blood pressure measurement been invasive?!  Maybe the author should look for a new physician.
It's invasive as in having to prick your finger to get blood to take a real reading.  Non-Invasive is not having to do that.  There are a few patches you can get these days, but it is still invasive, but you leave the needle in guess, and safe for a number of days?   I'm not an expert in this area.  Even that would be invasive.
Yeah, my doctor jambs one of the those tire pressure stick thingies into the end of my finger, it hurts like hell. It shows 100psi. Then after I'm all bleeding out, he checks it again, and it shows 60psi, so he tells me I'm 100 over 60, which is supposed to be pretty good.....

In these two countries in Europe??…
What’s version of the OS did each have installed on their phones???

Do you really think Kazakhstan is in Europe? I'm guessing you're an American? Lol

So the 57,000 square miles that are in Europe don't count? That's more than all of Ireland....
