Apple issues AirPort Express firmware update adding support for AirPlay 2
SpamSandwich said:sflocal said:It breaks my heart that Apple discontinued their Airport products. They are by far the best built, most reliable units I've ever owned. Sure, others like DLink, NetGer, Linksys, etc.. may have more features for tech-savvy people, but their quality is crap, are unstable, and always require a restart.
What a shame. -
Apple hardware subscription could shift focus away from iPhone shipments
Kind of funny in that this is EXACTLY what the phone industry was doing before Apple got into the game. 'Subsidized' phones buried the cost of the phone into the monthly fees, and people could then go get new phones every 2 years. Keeping the same old phone didn't get you a reduction in your phone bill, so it made sense to go out and get a new one.It was a real struggle for carriers that had to explain to people that they couldn't just get another $10 phone when they broke theirs, and the full price was something much higher. This is essentially exactly the same thing all over again! -
New MacBook Air coming by end of quarter, research firm claims
Comparing the MacBook Air to the current MacBook Pro 13 and you're dealing with pretty much the same size machine. The MBA is way less powerful, and has a lower quality display. However, it does maintain the legacy ports and a magsafe charger, both of which will likely be gone in the next revision.Keeping the machine in the lineup just to have a lower cost entry level machine makes sense. However, MacBook Air name doesn't make sense, as the regular MacBook is much smaller. If they can reduce the cost of the MacBook, then it would even out their lineup a little better.
