  • Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen dies at 65

How does an article celebrating the life of a great technologist and (far more importantly) philanthropist wind up having the comments section sound like an argument over mouse buttons? Not to mention conjecture over his sexuality! Come on people we can do better than this! Let’s just celebrate the life of a man who saw a way to use his enormous wealth and intelligence for the better of all humankind. It’s rarer than it ought to be. I hope those who knew him and were close to him are proud of all he achieved and attempted in his life. May he now find peace.

maybe mention or show pics of some of the actual "rare" stuff?
All I see are piles of iMacs.
This article doesn’t, unfortunately, include many of the photos that were released by the journalists covering the story. He’s got everything from Mac SE/Classic to original iMacs and Powermacs and even old Apple ImageWriter printers. I suspect it won’t take long for some wealthy collector to take it all off his hands.

  • Greg Joswiak confirms iPhone's future move to USB-C

Not only was it inevitable because of the EU mandate but Apple was heading that way anyway. Just look at the iPad pro. The only surprise was that Apple didn't make the change for the iPhone 14. It's either a design issue with the smaller form factor (seems unlikely) or an economic factor (eek the last dregs of value from stocks of lightning components before they have to go USB-C anyway). I didn't buy the 13 or 14 as I'm holding out for the USB-C version compatible with my iPad Pro so BRING ON THE 15!!!

4K is so yesterday for pros, semi pros, and even enthusiast photographers and video editors. Today 6K should be the minimum resolution considered.
Did you read that it's a "Conference Monitor" designed with video conferencing in mind (MS Teams was mentioned), not video editing?  It don't think it was meant to be used by "pros" (whoever they are these days).
And yet 80% of people are still using 1080p, there’s virtually no 8K displays.  Yeah retinas are still ahead of its time.
...and most people don't actually use their 4K monitors at 4K resolution because a windows or mac screen at 4K is really hard to read. Most of them are scaled to around half their full resolution! Anything over 1080p for VC is just a big waste of money until bandwidth for the vast majority of users is considerably better.

  • Apple's VR headset: What to expect and what it will look like

Pretty certain these renders prove you have absolutely no idea what Apple is designing. Pretty sure it won't be like the rubbish everyone else is putting out. It's not the Apple way just to put out a product to match the schlock that everyone else is producing.
