  • Apple 'won't make an exception' for Epic to skirt App Store rules

"Fortnite should put the actual rap songs behind the dances that make so much money as Emotes. Black creatives created and popularized these dances but never monetized them. Imagine the money people are spending on these Emotes being shared with the artists that made them
    — Chance The Rapper Album in July (@chancetherapper) ;July 13, 2018"

Epic stole dance moves from popular black artists and sold them to kids for a profit. The artists did not receive a penny or recognition for their work.

    #BlackLivesMatter
This is not to start a race conversation but I have a question. Why do you say black artist ? Does it make it worse because they were black artist ? Would you feel the same had they been white artist ? Why not just say they stole from popular artist ? Singling out black in this case does not make the argument anymore valid.

  • Apple drops iOS Private Relay feature for users in Russia

Should foreign companies follow the laws of the countries they do business in? Just ask that question. And it should become obvious that we want companies to follow our laws when they do business here. The U.S. weapons industry sell tens of billions of dollars of weapons and sends support to many countries with horrible human rights records and anti woman and anti LGBT records. Apple is simply doing what every other company in the world does, which is follow the laws of the country they do business in. There is an easy answer that the American capitalists would never stand for - make it illegal for American companies to do business in foreign countries. There. Your issue is solved. Ford, Microsoft, Google, McDonalds ALL follow the laws of the countries they do business in. Please explain why Apple is held accountable in this case but no one else, and what we should do about it?
Its not about Apple following the laws of the country they do business in. I don't think anyone would suggest otherwise. Its the fact that Apple touts and brags about privacy is a human right and about how important human rights are to them but then they bow to countries like Russia. Either do not do business there or quit with the we are holier than though attitude. What's on your iPhone stays on your iPhone is pure BS. And sure you can say well that applies to US customers...blah blah blah. Their world wide events would suggest otherwise. Apple is a huge profit machine for their share holders and nothing else. The top of their priority list is profits. Everything else is negotiable.

  • White House shot down Intel plans to increase chip production in China

The chip shortage will continue under Biden administration. Companies will not manufacture chips in US. They cannot make money. If they try to raise prices they need to double or triple the prices. And this route is not working. Democrats have no concept of capitalism.
Bullshit! This crap started under the Reagan Administration. I live in Silicon Valley and personally saw Intel strip and close chip factories in the past to move the equipment over seas to increase profits to enrich executives bonuses through excessive profits through cheap labor and not regards for either domestic and foreign workers, the environment or national security concerns.

One would think that after the World’s Covid PPE shortages made worst by the hoarding, excessive profiteering and the arrogant Chinese Communist Party using its control of the manufacturing as a political weapon the world has learned the lesson of depending on a inherently corruption and authoritarian to deliver essential goods.

The Biden administration is 1000 percent correct in trying to stop our “Capitalist from selling the ROPES to OUR and the ENTIRE WORLD HANGING!”
But the Biden's love China and will do whatever benefits them personally. Also democrats do not like capitalism or big corporations. And they flat out hate small business. Just wait for the huge tax increases on businesses that will kill the economy.

  • Spotify iOS beta gains ability to make Siri music requests

There is still anti competition going on by Apple.
They should be sued for having taken years to have third parties integrate Siri into music apps - a category they blocked.

Secondly they should be sued for the fact you still need to say “on Spotify”, because leaving it out - the “default” - is still Apple Music.

iOS should include an option to set the defaults for music, navigation and other categories, so that Siri can take that setting as the ‘default’.
Quit with the "they need to be sued" stuff. No they don't. You don't like their setup then move on to something else. Sounds like you need to move over to Android.

  • Sports Illustrated swimsuit model says she was tracked for hours with AirTag

It’s getting ridiculous now with these news stories.   Car thieves and now this.    Technology for technology sake is not necessarily a good thing.  It reminds me of the fascination some have with self driving robot cars, just because it is possible does not mean it should be done or is a good thing.   Perhaps a time is coming soon where these tracking products need to be shut down and banned,  regardless of brand.
Why should they be shut down or banned ? Because someone could get harmed or worse ? Unfortunately this is the world we live in and that stinks but you can find a reason to ban everything if you look hard enough. If someone wants to stalk someone they will find a way even without devices like this.

  • Security researcher raises questions about trackers in LastPass Android app

On iOS, I don't see why people feel the need to use password managers at all since iOS directly supports automatic password storage.
    https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/password_autofill/ <--
Password AutoFill simplifies login and account creation tasks for iOS apps and webpages. With just a few taps, your users can create and save new passwords or log in to an existing account. Users don’t even need to know their password; the system handles everything.

I store much more than just passwords in 1Password. Keychain is very limited in that regards. But it does work well if you only want to store login info.

  • Siri and AirPlay 2 officially land on Ecobee SmartThermostat

Sigh... I NEVER would have considered upgrading from my Ecobee3 to one of these, but suddenly it's on the table with this update. As long as you don't HAVE to enable Alexa, it's on my watch list now.
I have this one and you do not have to enable Alexa.
