  • Apple responds to viral tweet over disappearing iTunes movies

You'd better download the movie. I tend to rely on Apple to always have the movie available, but they might not. If Apple loses the right to sell the movie, and removes it from their library, you will not be able to "stream" it. It just isn't there, and there is no way to download it, even though you purchased it. This happened to me a few years ago with Avatar. In a different kind of situation all together, I purchased a movie from Apple. Apple tends to get around to actually charing me sometimes days later. When they charged me, there was a problem with my credit card. It is my online credit card that I use for services and what not. I have to fill the account with money periodically. Apple went to make a charge for the movie and there was not enough money in the account. Interestingly enough, I could not play any music or movies that I had already purchased. iTunes would just demand that get them the money. I couldn't even download free apps. Luckily I could just transfer money to the account and fix it. I do not think it fair that I be blocked from content I already purchased due to a problem with a current purchase though. This happened also when I used PayPal for a purchase.

  • Where is Apple's innovative iPad, MacBook Pro hardware to rival Microsoft's Surface?

I believe there are 2 reasons for this.

    1. It is actually Microsoft who is trying to compete with Apple and not the other way around. Microsoft must toss crap out there and see what attracts flies. Apple probably already knows that its users prefer the conventional notebook style laptop and do not want a break-apart design that converts to a tablet. It simply doesn't feel right.

    2. Also Apple responds with innovation. They don't waste it on experiments. If they perceive that we are tired of MacBooks and MacBook Pros and are beginning to look askance at competitive offerings, they will innovate. They do this with everything. Even then the innovation isn't truly innovation. They look at what's been tried out there and cherry pick the good stuff.

  • Apple considers alternative MacBook keyboards with touch interfaces, improved dust protect...

Further proof that Apple simply does not listen to users. Such a device would make people who type a great deal howl in anger. No one wants that virtual (iPad-ish) keyboard feel. It will do in a pinch, but it tends to reduce even astounding typists to typing with two index fingers.

One constant recurring complaint about the existing keyboard is the lack of travel. The distance the key travels when pressed lets confirms to the typist that the key has been struck. If the key doesn't travel enough, the typist is constantly checking to make sure  it was struck. In fact, that was the main complaint before the keyboards started failing.

A glass keyboard is highly undesirable for this reason and if Apple would just look around at what people are saying about the keyboards, they would know this. Anyone who's typed on the iPad keyboard knows that as you type you are constantly looking back to see if that key actually got pressed.

This would appear to be related to the quixotic quest to make their damn laptops thinner and thinner. They are thin enough. People don't want any more "thin." People want their laptops to work. It's time to put functionality over form for a while, because the other way is leading to nothing but criticism. The machines are being designed by people who apparently don't test or use them.

  • Netflix says it doesn't expect Apple TV+ or Disney+ to 'materially affect' income

Interestingly enough, Apple entering this space has caused me to cancel just about everything I had except Netflix, and the new DC comics. I canceled HBO, HULU, YoutubeTV, and I will cancel CBS after the finale of Star Trek this week. All of these services combined are too much money. I can wait for Game of Thrones to finish, then I will purchase it on iTunes and have more fun bingeing it. I see nothing interesting in Apple's offering yet. they are going to have to get to a model where I can purchase a show for download for $40 or something like iTunes. This $14 and $15 a month crap isn't going to work.
