  • US Supreme Court greenlights lawsuit over App Store monopoly

Clear waste of taxpayer dollars letting this proceed. There are alternatives to iPhones and the App Store. Ridiculous.

Yes, it is a ridiculous world we live in when real-life engineering problems make my entitlement to consumer goods secondary. Don't they know who I am??
How immature. No need to be so aggressive. It’s ridiculous Apple announced a product as early as they did. There’s nothing entitlement related to that at all.

  • 'AirPods 2' may not launch until the fall, Wireless Charging case coming sooner

I had spoken with Apple regarding getting my batteries replaced for my AirPods that were OOW. I was quoted to $69 apiece for all three parts — each AirPod and the case. If AirPods are OOW, you’re better off just buying a new set. $69*3=$207 vs $169 for a new set, no waiting, etc.

  • T-Mobile 5G service launches across US, minus high-speed mmWave

5G is 5G regardless. There’s a slower and a faster version, but it’s all 5G. IMHO, a more steady and useable 5G (slower) is a better start than the unsteady (difficulty penetrating, etc.) faster 5G one.

  • Apple reiterates it has no plans to merge iPad and Mac

I don't know man.  This feels like typical Apple: deny, deny, deny the thing.
Typical would imply that it's a regular thing. I recall video on iPod and music subscription services as two cases in the last twenty years. That's pretty much it, though.

And Apple were right about both: video on iPod sucked, and music subscription is a really, really shitty idea. But that ship has sailed.
    Don’t forget ebooks.

  • Apple attorneys threaten UK market exit if court orders 'unacceptable' patent fees

The may have to leave the UK market to set an example and cool the current wave of attacks. What would be the cost of not leaving?

I don’t know. Everyone on forums seem to agree that Apple should leave every country that attacks them. Seems like a good plan!
    /s

The cost of not leaving? Not sure what you mean but leaving means it leaves the market open for knockoffs and patent thieves like Huawei and Samsung to take over the market Apple spend decades and billions of dollars inventing.
Samsung and Huawei are knockoffs and patent thieves? The case clearly proves who the patent thief is. Are you being sarcastic? Apple is literally being tried for infringing on patents, and that too not cosmetic patents like rounded edges. Would definitely like to see Apple pull out of UK.
The case hasn’t proven anything, making everything else you’ve stated worthless not even consider. How hard is it to see that Apple isn’t the infringer if the products that infringed _weren’t even made by them and are products used in many, many, MANY other products? I mean, should a patent troll sue _you_ for using an iPhone or Android device that has the same technology in it because you’re now somehow infringing on the patent?! 🙄 Stinkin’ use your head here. A child could, should and would see how stupid this patent troll garbage is.

  • Judge rules Tim Cook must sit through seven-hour 'Fortnite' deposition

I really hope the solution is allowing third party app stores. That would break the monopoly and still allow customers to make the decision as to whether they prefer a tightly controlled app ecosystem or a less restrictive app environment.

It would also break Apple's reputation for rock solid stability, privacy and security.   No Thank You!   It's one of the reasons I buy Apple products.
it wouldn't...as long as you do not install Apps from 3rd party app stores. And a very small percentage (<0.1%) of people would dare install Apps from 3rd party app stores, so it wouldn't make a difference to the Apple's ecosystem in reality. Not sure why you think it would break Apple's reputation.
How you don’t see it would is the real question.

  • New Apple TV Siri Remote incompatible with some tvOS games

So this means the AppleTV is really $149 + $99 for a PS4 controller that is pretty much essential if you want to play 3D games.
Yep, and it’s dumb, IMHO. Apple needs a first-party remote where they can control the hardware and software and provide updated firmware for that’ll work flawlessly with the rest of their ecosystem, and they can include a U1 chip for seamless switching between devices that’ll go along with iCloud saving and such. It’s really a no- brainer to me if they were serious about gaming on all of their platforms. They can add the haptic engine instead of rumble gear, use touch and scrolling and directional clicks, specific buttons and layout with icons that mimic the Apple TV remote for play/pause, home, volume +/-, add menu (iconic Apple logo button) and make it as ergonomically comfy as possible with wireless, USB-C with smart-charging for long-lasting battery life. There’s just so much potential for not only uniqueness, but advancement here!

They could have something in-store for whenever their VR equipment comes out — perhaps in combo with the “newer” HomePod — but there’s nothing wrong with different controllers for different types of hardware. Or maybe they’re big push on gaming will be with their VR stuff and XBox/PS/MFi is just bridging until then? 🤔 Still, I’d LOVE for them to improve on what’s been around for a while with general controllers, something specifically Apple-ish. One can dream….
