  • Apple stuck the Mac mini power button on the bottom

Weird placement. I think there is plenty of space on the back for a button. It won't affect me with my homemade monitor setup, except for the thickness. The there is always removing the power and having it setup to automatically come back up. That said I can't remember when the last time I used the power button. I don't think the rack folks will be happy.

  • How to detect sleep apnea with Apple Watch

I'd like to see a secondary device that is slim and unobtrusive to wear when you're in bed and your watch is charging then switch them over when you get up. My watch barely lasts the day and certainly wouldn't last the whole night.
I have a fast charger for my watch. I then charge it at night for a little bit before going to sleep and in the morning till it gets to optimized level. It uses much less power at night, so you don’t need much charge, however more charge at night, the less you have to do in the morning.

The latest regular Apple Watch has much better battery life. Of course there is always the ultra for good battery life.

The problem for US users is the latest Apple Watch versions that can do Sleep Apnea, cannot do O2, except early versions of the 9. I prefer keeping O2 as I’ve already been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea.

I’m always reminded by these stories how these developers don’t like Apple’s restrictions and how some people complain about Apple’s walled garden. Plus now we have alternative App Stores. We need to recognize that some developers don’t care about the consumer.

  • M4 Mac mini review: The first redesign in years hides incredible computing power

No USB-A on a Mac Mini isn’t a big deal, but it’s a huge deal on a MacBook. I just bought an M1 MacBook Air, and I like it, but there is no real replacement for my low profile USB-A thumb drive. I’m going to have to use a fragile 90 degree adapter to connect my USB-A thumb drive to one of the two USB-C ports. Not a great solution.
I have a small hub that does all that for my MBP.

Or you could switch to one of these growing number of USB-C thumb drives.
Actually, neither of those solutions works for me. On my old 11 inch Air, I leave my LOW PROFILE (1/4” protrusion) 512gb thumb drive in the USB-A port practically all the time—it’s a permanent appendage to it and it’s where I save all of my data files. Because of USB-C’s limits to minimization, there is no pathway to that size drive footprint, and I need the extra storage to avoid using up my internal drive space. The only solution is to add structural support to the adapter. I certainly use hubs and other thumb drives occasionally, but not permanently attached. In this configuration, I can pick up my Air and walk out the door without worrying about wagging a bag of attachments with me. Apple throws a monkey wrench into things when they don’t include USB-A—major oversight IMO. I know why they do it—it’s an easy way to coerce buyers into upgrading to a more expensive model, but I’m on a limited budget.

You can get dumb drives with both USB-C and USB-A plugs on them. Still quite tiny.

  • Apple cut too much by removing MagSafe from the iPhone 16e

So what? If you want MagSafe, buy a phone that has it.
While that's true it doesn't address the core issue of long established features not making it into new products. I have family members that use Apple products that don't read tech articles or comment on tech forums. Hell, I was surprised that two seemingly ubiquitous features are not supported.

Where do you draw the line between expecting that a new iPhone in 2025 supports tech that was introduced 4 years ago and telling some octogenarian that they're a dumbass for not knowing the iPhone 16e doesn't support UWB?
This is a replacement for the SEs. The SEs have never had MagSafe. It is only with this phone that they got FaceID.

There is nothing removed, just not added.

  • Apple is planning to make enormous design changes to iOS 19 & macOS 16

I just want more ShortCut actions for the Apple apps as they are so limited. Also better spam detection. Please have expiration for iMessage on a per thread/person basis.

  • WWDC macOS 16 wishlist: What we'd like to see Apple add for power users

Better built in automation. I like ShortCuts, but my complaints for years now has been that it is severely crippled. I can not doing things on the iPhone, but why can't I set a SHortCut up to delete things like mail, messages or files? Why do I need to go to some 3rd party or work my way through AppleScript? I have my Mail rules setup to delete mail over x days, why can't I get Mail or ShortCuts to run that automatically?
