I hope one of these ripple effects will be that Apple gets the impetus to seriously improve Siri. My latest aggravation is that although I have been able to say “speak screen” , and Siri would do it suddenly one day it stopped doing it. I had several conversations with Apple support and we could not get it to speak screen again. “ sorry, there’s nothing to read here.”.  Also, recently, when I ask Siri to read my calendar for tomorrow it will just tell me how many events I have for tomorrow, and will not read out what they are like it was doing. The sudden disruptions in service are very annoying especially when you end up spending days on different forums  trying to find out if Apple has merely taken away a function, as they did, when Siri used to be able to search your photos for objects, dates, etc. or if it is a problem with your device.

Much as I would love to have Siri be as competent as Jarvis in being my virtual assistant, I’d rather be able to ask Siri first instead of having the automation anticipate my needs. In no way, would I ever let automation control the door to my home, or control a heating device in my home. If I tell Siri to turn the heat on, that’s one thing, for it to just assume that I want it turned on because the temperature drops below 65° at my house is another. I am an elderly lady, so having these devices carry out my needs is very attractive, and I have smart plugs to get Siri to tell them to do that, but I definitely, don’t want to do it on an anticipatory basis.

I’m very happy to see that Apple is taking Siri seriously now, but for as long as people have been complaining about it, I wonder why they didn’t do it before…

I hope superpowered Siri is not restricted to the M3 chip. I have an M2 and I have been waiting for Siri to be updated for many years. Come on Apple, so have many other people been waiting and to restrict it to the newest device would be a really bad look. 

I don’t want to see this rolled into Apple one. I need it to be a separate chargeable  feature because I have no use for Apple Music, arcade, fitness, etc. And I don’t want to pay for them just to get Apple Intelligence features. $20 a month would be ridiculous.

How about bringing the Health App to the iPad?

I’m hoping that the fact that the WWDC announcement is in siri’s own colors means that Siri will be the heaviest feature of AI at the conference.

The iPad mini is what I’m interested in, and since it closely aligns with the Air, I’m hoping for an A18.  They update this so infrequently it needs to have a chip that future proofs it for at least a little while!  Oh, and of course 8 GBs of RAM.

I am so here for the iPad mini! But I don’t expect it until October.
