  • Only 4% of iOS users in US are opting in to ad tracking, report says

Remember, apps need to be updated before they will begin asking.  So you may not see apps ask immediately even though you have the feature enabled.

  • China ready to retaliate against Apple after U.S. moves to ban chip shipments to Huawei

Whatever someone thinks of Trump as president, he’s a very successful businessman and knows how to negotiate far better than anyone of us including our favourite government leaders (anyone wanting to bring up some of Trump’s business failures please spare us your ignorance).

Growth takes sacrifice, sometimes painful, especially in a situation like this where we’re entrenched in problematic ways due to past government leaders not having the business sense or courage to stand up to China’s tactics. Regardless of what you think of Trump’s other policies, we should all be thanking him for having the courage to rock the boat with China.
Tell that to our soybean farmers or any of the many other small and medium businesses that have suffered under his very successful business acumen.  Those negotiation skills are on display for sure.  Even large businesses have not been thanking him for rocking the boat, and now he is going to help out even further by knocking some of our top businesses down a few notches by exercising his negotiation skills further.  Lucky us to have such a great leader... /s

I don't understand anything about this app, or whatever it is. Guess I don't need it, huh?
If you've ever made a bullet point list, ahead of writing some document, where you break down the topics you want to cover, adding sub points for specific details, this is essentially that, except more visually distinct.  This style allows the user to spread the information out and color code grouped topics, with organization handled by the connecting lines.  It isn't for everyone, but for some people it really helps them organize sometimes complex topics.

  • Philips Hue adds Matter support to existing bridges

🤦🏽‍♂️ I read through this article, thought cool I should go add the bridge to HomeKit, and followed the instructions.  (You'll need to have an account linked btw.)  The Hue app provides code for the bridge, and you can add that to the HomeKit app.

At this point I should have asked myself, should I do this, what additional benefits do it I get, and most importantly are there any repercussions...  Once the hub is added, HK also adds all of the individual lights connected to the hub.  So now I have a bunch of individual lights in the HomeKit Default Room, that are in some cases duplicates of stand-alone lights, and in other cases are individual lights from a group that was already setup in the Hue app.

So if you have everything setup already, then you probably do not need to try this out.  Also, if you are in this duplicate lights situation, you can view the HomeKit Home Settings and remove one of the duplicate bridges, but be really sure you are removing the one that isn't already correctly setup.  Its lights will all be in the Default Room, just ignore the hub's name which might include the word Default.  😉

  • Sabrent Thunderbolt 4 KVM Switch has 8K 60Hz support in a compact size

I have a Mac/PC setup sharing a display, and I'd love to use a KVM to handle switching place of the display controls.  The thing tripping me up currently is the 60Hz limitation for the majority of switches.  My current display is a 144Hz 3840x1600 LG UW with TB support.  Previous switches I've tried that support this refresh rate drop the active connection, and then I find messy resized windows then I return to the other computer.

Should we ask Sir Jonny or King Chuck whether they think geocentrism is a reasonable representation for the universe, five hundred years after Copernicus.
The continents on the planet are generic.  It would have been interesting if they were accurate and centered on the UK, and how that might be symbolic for future colonialism.  Jony's team took a different approach, and the generic representation of Earth is more symbolic of our species striving as a whole to expand beyond the planet.  The crown needed to sign off on any design, so they deserve as much credit as LoveFrom for this final product.  If you look at this from the perspective above, and consider our space exploration efforts, plans for asteroid mining, and the goals of colonizing the Moon and Mars, I think the geocentrism is appropriate.

  • Logitech K380 keyboard for Mac review: Fun colors, great feel, and inexpensive

I use a K480 myself, picked this model because of the ability to switch between a few devices.  (Mac and PC)  The selector switch is nice because you always know which mode you are in, and the slot at the top has been surprisingly useful.  I nearly always have my iPhone in it, and when I'm using my Mac, the MX Master 3 I use on the PC-side can rest in the slot too.  I've also put iPads in there and not felt like they were going to tip over.  I generally prefer the super slim Apple keyboards too, but the multi-device functionality is hard to beat.  (as is the slot)

  • New trailer for Apple TV+ 'The Tragedy of Macbeth' debuts

I will gladly admit that I’m not an “art” kind of guy.
It is fine to not be, but try watching the trailer again, full screen with the volume up a bit.  Focus on the sounds, the visuals.  Both are highly controlled in "art" pieces to evoke particular feelings in the audience, and this trailer highlights that approach.  Not everyone appreciates being made to feel a certain way, and it can be confusing and off-putting if you don't realize that point.  You definitely don't have to like it, but it is easier to appreciate the skill behind the production when you understand what they are trying to do.
