I subscribe to Apple One. I don’t play any games or care about fitness tracking, but it’s still a good deal. IF they add AI to One, great. If they charge a tiny bit more, OK. If they creat a new tier, I won’t care. AI is a big nothing burger for me. 

So the new iMac doesn’t support Thunderbolt at all?!

I would seriously go back to this form-factor. I loved my iMac Pro. It was portable, compact, powerful and had a beautiful screen. Give me a 29” miniLED 5.5k screen with an M4 MAX or ULTRA and I’d be clam-happy. I’d sell off my Mac Studio M1 ULTRA, a perfectly good machine, to adopt a vastly faster GPU array for my C4D and Resolve work.

Unsurprisingl. The C1 is new tech based on Intel’s unsuccessful modem tech. But like all Apple products, give it a few iterations to work out the bugs, and better consolidation. Like the M1, it wasn’t the best when it shipped - but it was damned fine. But look at the M4 MAX… it destroys all other CPUs on the critical Single Core benchmarks. And its GPU is way up there too. Just give Apple time, and by the time the C4 ships, it’ll blowup the competition.

This is a remarkable device. I sold my M1 Studio Ultra w/ 128GB for $3500. It served me well. I still have my M1 Max MBP. But since I’m shifting to UNREAL engine design, I’ve discovered that my builds crash too much on the M1, so I’m building an AMD/Nvidia Windows machine to get optimum performance under UE 5.5. But if Unreal was to really optimize UE for Mac and other developers of UE add-ons, I’d go right back to a Mac Studio M4 Ultra. I truly detest Windows, but it’s the cost of doing business.

I had no idea this was a known issue. My set has had this problem forever, but it never occurred to me it was a defect, I always assumed it was interference or a bad connection issue. Damn, if I’d known I’d gotten some replacements.

I hope the next version about to drop (early next year?) does not suffer the same problem.

This is one of my favorite shows. It makes me feel really good about my production career choices outside live TV. It’s such a guilty pleasure and I adore the characters you love to hate. Outstanding production quality and stories.
