The throttling wasn't done to prevent overheating. It was done to prevent "unexpected shutdown" which is a case where the phone's battery display shows a relatively high state-of-charge like 20-30%, yet the phone shuts off immediately after a heavy load is applied such as CPU, GPU, camera, etc. 

Users should have been given the ability to opt into this behavior, but Apple, always trying to keep things simple, made the behavior automatic for all users. 

Another EU money grab. 

I hope these costs are directly passed along to purchasers of Apple products in Europe. 

I don't understand the virtue signaling around leather. The animals are slaughtered for their meat anyway, so what are we supposed to do--throw the skins away?

It's a joke mocking the fact that they literally say this every time they reveal a new phone. 

People who still want leather, like me, are just going to buy non-Apple accessories. It's a stupid move that will sacrifice sales on the altar of virtue signaling. 

It's like their lightning and USB-C cables that are made out of recycled butterfly wings but only last a couple of years before they break. 

This is what I like about Apple: They have a track record of not releasing products until they are fully baked and actually work the way you expect, while other companies treat their customers like beta testers. 

I'll believe AI is real when Apple releases an AI. 

The study may be flawed but I can tell you first hand that it's directionally correct. Apple is a sausage grinder for engineers; many people quit or are fired before they even make it two years. And unlike other companies, if your manager doesn't like you, they will do nothing to help you find another position in the company under a different manager--you're just gone. 

Don't tell anyone, but I heard a rumor that the iPhone 16 will be the best iPhone Apple has ever made. 

If you have $3K to spend on computing, you'd be better off buying a $500 iPad and a $2500 laptop. 

I don't see how an iPad can possibly be one's only computing device. I dare say virtually all iPad users also have access to another computer.

Phones past a certain age, I think it was the iPhone 12, have a different gas gauge chip set that may not like never seeing 100% state-of-charge. Many gas gauge chips rely on  seeing 100% to re-calibrate the capacity of the battery.
