Weak demand for MacBook, Apple Watch, AirPods may have caused order cuts
I doubt anything will change, but Apple’s pricing policy is not in keeping for folks faced with increased heating bills, increased prices and wages not keeping pace with any of it. All of my previously comfortable Apple subs are under review. I’m making do with my older phone for another year. Much coveted AirPods Max are a no-go for the foreseeable*. Etc.*First world problems, I know -
Bono takes the blame for the 2014 iTunes U2 album disaster
hodar said:Bono may have agreed to “give it away”; but let’s take a moment of honesty. Bono has ZERO authority to speak on behalf of what iTunes (Apple) actually DID

Apple to build AI servers in Houston, invest $500B in U.S. economy
Way to lie down and be counted. Exactly the sort of “Can’t Do” attitude that poisons us here in Europe. Believe it or not, some of us still look to you lot for a bit of testosterone fuelled inspiration.
I’d *** swim the Atlantic and walk the rest of the way for a job at that place.
No way on God’s earth Cook agreed to anything that wasn’t fully in Apple’s interest. The media may like to portray these people as children but the sharp end of these business deals is about as real as it gets.rob53 said:Why in Texas? People thought Apple's products were getting too expensive, just wait for products coming out of Texas. They will break everyone's budget. Who in Texas will actually work at this manufacturing facility? Will everything be automated? Where will the people for these 20K come from, India? Who's going to build the facility? Not the hardest workers from south of the border. trump made sure of that. -

Apple's AI ambitions go beyond Siri LLM with Knowledge chatbot and always-on AI copilot
Apple is famously secretive and quality obsessed - two laudable traits. For a tech company, there is no way they are not close to what’s happening with AI, not just what is ready to implement now, but also what’s coming. Currently agentic AI is hot. Where might that lead? How will this fit? LLMs are just one piece, one cog in the machine.
As soon as something is stable, reliable, basically of truly sound quality, we will see it. Until then, if AI is what you’re after, stick with the main players and enjoy the near weekly advances and its disruptive impact. This genie isn’t going back in the bottle. And speaking as a coder, yes there are concerns for my career going forward, but we’re not stopping it. I did a week’s worth of coding in one day last week. As it stands, that makes me more productive. I think it’s that aspect - major productivity gains - Apple will embrace. When it’s ready.
