Steve Jobs' vision was… ‘a computer that is a slate of glass’ —check AllDigital interview—.
That's right the actual iPad Pro. You are right.

But someone then add… a pencil, a (physical) keyboard, and even… function keys! (All those things hated by Steve Jobs!)

My two cents… worthless as usual.

1— quote: “So, finally, we've arrived 12 years later at Apple Maps on the web.”
Tim Cook always remembers us that… “Apple is for the long run…”
(Just go to look Google's cementer of apps…)

2— Why did you… or your editor… mention MapQuest in the title and then it does not appears in the body of the article?

On the other hand… somewhere there is the news that Microsoft, Amzon, and Meta put a lot of money in an open maps foundation… 

Almost forever… CES was held in the first week of January.
And in the old day… MacWorld Expo was held in the second week.

Except one year! 2007.
That year… CES and MacWorld Expo were held in the same first week of January.
But there was a tiny detail: At 10:00am on Monday… Steve Jobs demonstrated the iPhone!

Almost no other news… even everything at CES… received so much attention.

My two cents… worthless as usual!

1— Remember that Apple ‘gifted’ HomeKit technology —build on privacy and security— to create Matter. That way, it was sure that its principles were just in the foundation of the protocol.

2— Remember Tim Cook's words: “Not the first, the best!”

This could be… standard Apple's procedure!

When Apple started the iPhone… chips were from Samsung… then their own.
When Apple started Siri… the speech recognition system was from an external company… now it is its own.
When iPhone launched… Maps were from Google… now it is its own.
And so on…

We must understand two things:
1— This is a very low news week.
2— Showing Apple's failures bring page views… ad revenues!

Before the launch of VisionPro the news ‘blamed Apple’ because Sony would only be able to deliver 400K screens…
…and now, news ‘blame Apple’ for not achieving 500K Vision Pros!

News sites seems to flush all memories too soon!

The title of this article is the highest level of page view harvesting!
It is not false… but has nothing to REALLY do with the news!

It similar to say that… Apple's chip manufacturer TSMC did a faulty chip… for Intel.

But blaming Apple and showing it fails… bring page views… aka a revenues!

In the times of Ones wars… it was called FUD.

My prediction… Next step: EU will claim for an iCloud secret backdoor!

There is an old quote… at least in Argentina… that says: “If you sleep with children your will awake wet!”

In this case: “If Apple must relay in car manufacturers to launch a product… the timeline will surely slip!”

(But remember… blaming Apple for anything —even Lord William's age— brings page views… aka ad revene!)

I will neither defend nor attack Apple Maps… but there could be another reason.
The fact that this occurs on too zoomed vies make me think that.

In the last times… several airlines had been added ‘claim luggage AirTag’ tother apps.
If some coded erroneously the identifier or other info… it could be the reason.
Someone should check if this happens for only one airline or for a group of airlines —maybe sharing the same developer— or in all the cases.
