iPhone 11 Pro review - Buy for the better camera, stay for the battery life
Thanks, I’ll pass.
Lack of a Home Button is the 100% deal breaker for me.
If I wanted an Android phone, I’d have one.
When Apple brings back TouchID (and an associated virtual Home Button), and gets rid of the notch - ie fixes most of what Jonny Ive has screwed up, I’ll be first in line - until then, my iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 will do just fine).Again, I’m not poo-poo’ing the tech, which is superbly executed, but I’m not going to spend good money to support incompetence and (IMO) Ive’s clueless stupidity. Good riddance that he’s gone, and I have confidence in Tim Cook and Jeff Williams fixing this mess starting next year. -
Expedia chairman attacks Apple's 'disgusting' 30% commission fee
Dave Cummings said:It’s funny how they like to call Apple out about the 30%, acting like the other app stores don’t do the EXACT same thing
Why isn’t he calling Expedia’s 20%-25% commission “disgusting”?
Someone should suggest to the government to investigate Dillers’ business’ “disgusting” commission structures. -
Laurene Powell Jobs talks philanthropy & Steve Jobs in rare interview
Giovanni Filero said:Α bored billionaire's widow who consider herself philanthropist. Superyacht & yoga, jets & natural foods, mansions' collection & dozen of charitable initiatives. Her husband's company stole tens of billions of taxes from Europe countries and make the widow billionaire. The stolen money will return in the society as a charity by the noble lady, when she isn't busy buying or building new mansions, find new crews for super yacht and jets, organize new cruises around the world. She's a very busy philanthropist. -

Apple confirms that Apple Intelligence Siri features are taking longer than expected
Offering "Would you like to ask chatGPT about that?" (or words to that effect) as an option for every single request is pathetically embarrassing as an Apple 'solution' -- and then making this 'feature' only available on iPhone 15 and 16 models is just ridiculous.I use a shortcut to essentially replace Siri with chatGPT on my iPhone 14 Pro, where it works just fine. While 'Apple Intelligence' is a nice play on the 'AI' moniker, I'm concerned that the delivery is, currently, embarrassing ... and based on how badly Apple has shepherded and mishandled Siri since the original acquisition (basically forcing the original creators out, and then letting Siri languish (*)), I have very little hope for Apple Intelligence to set itself apart.
It might be worth it for Apple leadership to revisit Steve's words...“It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to to , We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.”― Steve Jobs, Steve Jobs: His Own Words and Wisdom -
Apple could have sold me an iPhone SE 4, but it won't sell me the iPhone 16e
AmberNeely said:AppleZulu said:So the complaint here is that the entry level model lacks some of the features of the regular and premium models. Interesting. To me, the iPhone 16e is a 'hard pass' for two reasons :
1) lack of Dynamic Island. There is ZERO reason for this omission in a device with the A18 chip, and the components all cost the same, since they are by now widely used across the entire iPhone line. Zero excuse to not provide the Dynamic Island. This omission feels more like a slap in the face and a pathetic cash grab of wanting to push buyers to the next higher model. Hard Pass.
2) lack of MagSafe. Same for all the good reasons you've already pointed out in your article, so I won't rehash these good reasons. Again, it feels like a slap in the face and a deliberate effort to present a 'cheapened' product. Hard Pass.
Personally, my iPhone 14 Pro has been performing well enough for me that I see very little reason to upgrade to an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 model ... Apple 'Intelligence' is more less similar to an early 'Newton' level handwriting joke, especially since the one component that could benefit the most from any sort of intelligence upgrade is Siri, and Apple's current solution is to have Siri ask *every single time* "would you like to use chatGPT for that" ... yeah, no thanks .. I'll just continue using the ChatGPT app on my iPhone 14 Pro, which appears to be doing a much better job that all of Apple 'Intelligence' on the newer models. So, again, Hard Pass.
Apple is really failing on too many fronts these days, mainly when it comes to small details that matter, or just simply bare functionality (that Siri is still pathetic after all these years is inexcusable) - and this is coming from an Apple Guy that bleeds in 6-colors ;-) -
iPhone fold predicted to launch in late 2026 with no Face ID
creaseless = two screens and a perfect hinge. That's the only way to make such a foldable device without the crease eventually destroying the screen. It's amazing how many people don't seem understand that 'foldable' does not equal 'one screen'.
As someone else said, this phone type (foldable) addresses a market that doesn't exist, or is even smaller than the iPhone mini's size (and Apple allegedly didn't feel that size factor was profitable, or suitable).

Dual-lens cameras expected to be the de facto iPhone standard by 2018
... and then there's the typical apologists that always have 'explanations' for Apple's pure marketing/greed driven motivations.
