  • Apple Pay VP says Australian banks short-circuited adoption by sidestepping talks

Australian banks are blood sucking leeches protected by political donations to a horde of ex bankers in our parliament, up to and including Malcolm Turnbull the Prime Minister, (President Trumbull as your new president refers to him).

I've been with ANZ for decades and started using Apple Pay from day one, as Australian banks operate like a cartel and are all exactly the same if you want to use it change banks.

The only issue I've had is with Suncorp merchant terminals which don't seem to accept Apple Pay.

  • ACCC denies Australian banks to collectively bargain, boycott over Apple Pay

I use Apple Pay with ANZ and have been since the day it launched.

People in stores are still surprised when I pay with Apple Watch, it's extremely convenient.

Australia seems to be the only country where selfish banks hold out, appleinsider regularly announce new countries coming aboard where all the banks get involved.

Banks here charge excessive fees, an example is to use another banks ATM the charge is around $2.50, there is no way that it costs the banks that much to process an inter bank transfer.

Banks here make huge profits through fees on basically everything we do with our money.

  • Review: GigSky, an eSIM service for iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR

I have an Australian SIM, if I go to the states it'll cost $A5 a day added to my bill for that I get full access to my 54GB of data, unlimited calls and text.

Don't have to do anything just switch phone back on when I get off the plane, in any of these countries..

  • Apple's solid-state iPhone 7 haptic Home button requires a new hard reset trick: Down+Wake

You know that single button on the right hand side, that wakes the phone when you press it.

It might just be that one.

    Android is so much simpler.

  • Headphone picks for iPhone 7 users missing the 3.5mm headphone jack

I would never buy the Philips-M2L-27, or any Lightning headphones without a detachable cable (for that matter I wouldn't buy a wireless one without it either). Phillips didn't think this one through. As long as a customer will only be using a recent iOS device with a Lightning cable, they're fine. But otherwise, these headphones are incompatible with anything else, requiring a separate set of headphones just to use a Mac, to say nothing of anything else. At least the Audeze headphones have a detachable cable, for use with a 3.5mm analogue cable, however inconvenient.

I still feel like Apple botched the headphone jack removal, despite the strong iPhone 7 sales, and this is one of the reasons. The included Lightning EarPods can't be used on any other non-Lightning device, including the Macs. There isn't even a USB-C adapter, to say nothing of a 3.5mm adapter to use the Lightning EarPods on any current audio equipment. So for anyone who plans to use these EarPods with anything else, they are useless. Essentially the only option out of the box for a customer who only wants to carry one set of headphones with them to use with their Mac and iPhone is to use the 3.5mm adapter with their old set of 3.5mm EarPods. Where's the logic in that? Add to that the fact that Apple and Beat's simple to use W1 chipped headphones still have no definitive release date. Only one $300 pair of Beats Solo 3, are currently available for someone who might want to switch to BT headphones, the only other way to connect to both an iPhone 7 and Mac. And with BT comes its own set of quality and convenience compromises, despite the improvements Apple has made with the W1 connectivity enhancements. At least they can be used with a 3.5mm cable, to connect with a non-BT device when necessary. From my perspective Apple is virtually encouraging customers to continue using their old headphones with the added inconvenience of an adapter, rather than consider other options.

But the total lack of support for higher quality wired Lightning headphones out of the starting gate, makes the whole transition away from 3.5mm frustrating at best. And there's no hint on the horizon of how this facet of digital sound's backward compatibility is going to be handled, which should give a Lightning audio developer, not to mention a customer for the products, pause. How does Apple plan on supporting Lightning audio outside of the iPhone 7, if at all?

Every iPhone I have bought, 3G, 4, 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 7 still has the supplied headphones unused, in the box

Banks are generally evil but I have to admit that my  bank doesn't charge me anything and has really pushed into the technological side (although it doesn't support AP).

Spanish banks have also taken a battering recently from the courts. First with the so called 'preferentes', then the floor clauses and now with mortgage formalization costs. I stand to receive up to 5,000€ as a result of that last one.

All in all it's costing the banks billions and that's one of the reasons I'm not paying any kind of fees.
It's not going to happen here under our current government, the party in power receives way too much in political donations, they block any attempts to bring some of the bank's more reprehensible behaviours to account.

They even want to give them a $A7 Billion tax cut.

The Prime Minister is an ex banker who worked for Goldman Sachs and was almost jailed for his role in HIH/FAI, Australia's largest corporate collapse for publishing a misleading prospectus when shares were floated, a secret settlement believed to be $500,000,000 is the only reason he avoided it.

Thousands of people lost their life savings, the building industry ground to a standstill as HIH was their main insurer.

    This is worse than ridiculous.

It's just another attempt at fear-mongering and getting the less-intelligent segment of the general population on board with giving up their rights.  It would be completely laughable if that particular segment of the general population weren't so large...

You'd want your head examined to not ask for your money back and run as far away from this company as humanly possibly after that happening. Waking up and your bedrooom is full of smoke? Feck me, that's scary. Samsung are negligent and totally irresponsible. This will forever tarnish their brand—mark these words. Samsung are not just demonstrating a lack of leadership, but a lack of care and respect. Their products nor their company can no longer be trusted. A real rain is coming.
Unfortunately, it won't tarnish their brand at all as no major news agency is really yelling about it.  And fandroids don't care either.  They'll buy any piece of junk from Samsung anyway because of their unbelievable hatred for Apple.

This is obviously a far more important issue.

Not only will I "lose" the adaptor, I'll lose the headphones too!
