  • How to install macOS Sequoia on unsupported Macs

I'd rather just buy a new Mac than screw around with this crap. You may also have to worry about future updates breaking macOS thus, making your Mac not function properly after the update. Or, even just get a new(er) Mac. Even M1 series Macs are fairly cheap today and have waaaayyyyy more power than any "unsupported" Mac.

  • Apple is right to ditch folding iPad plans in favor of the iPhone Fold

Honestly they should just ditch both...folding phones is such a gimmick. Unless they can provide actual value to it folding that isn't a gimmick I just don't see the point. Focus on doing something of actual value for future phones.

  • Tim Cook isn't going to get fired, and Steve Jobs isn't rolling over in his grave

Cook needs to get rid of all DEI at Apple.   It is a cancer that kills internal culture and allows 2nd tier employees to exist at the company.  Apple still has "Racial Equity and Justice" and "Inclusion and Diversity" links on its home page.   It is disgusting

Competitors are  moving faster, more aggressively, and only care if an employee can deliver results.    While Apple is primarily focused that everyone, regardless of talent, is "included".

This is going to kill this company
Competitors are moving faster? Who gives a shit! First doesn't mean better and it doesn't mean Apple isn't innovating anymore. Apple still has some of the most talented people in the world working for them no matter what their gender, sexual orientation or race is. Apple has always been about this even before the DEI thing was a thing. It's built into the culture of Apple.

  • All hands on deck: Tim Cook, Craig Federighi address Apple employees on AI, Siri

Who brought up “community service” for this all-hands?

We are going to war gentleman. Gear up and fly the Pirate Flag
What in the hell are you talking about? Apple has been encouraging employees to get involved with volunteering and community service for 40 years. Since before Apple's own pirate flag flying.

It was Tim Cook who brought it up, by the way.
Try this:  The company is at a critical competitive cross road.   The future is at stake.  And you are offended I suggest they should not spent time discussing community volunteering at the fist all-hands after the earning call?     It is all hands on deck right now

And yes, I know Cook brought it up
LOL AI is not going to break Apple and bankrupt them. AI is kind of an overrated thing right now and nobody is doing it well. Maybe some are getting more attention, but that doesn't mean they're doing it better or worse. Apple is going a different direction with AI from others and it's doing something I don't think anyone else is doing and that doesn't mean they're wrong and everyone else is right. Honestly, I don't think the overall public really knows what AI is and what they can do with it. Apple is going to integrate AI so people don't really have to know and that takes time.

You sound like a pesky shareholder who bought Apple shares and wants an overnight return.

I'm sure this is Apple's fault...they blame Apple for everything else.

  • Siri may get Chat GPT-like search powers driven by a new Apple team

This completely contradicts what they said at WWDC where they made it very clear that Apple Intelligence is NOT a chat bot and there were no plans to ever make it one.

  • Lighter Apple Vision Pro expected by early 2026

Who wants a pricey, heavy Apple Vision, Pro or otherwise? No consumer wants to pay more and be less comfortable. I can see a move to bring weight down to allow for a standalone premium Vision and then deliver both lower price and weight with a tethered version for the masses. Considering a capable Mac Mini can be had for well below $1,000, even if you had someone without a Mac to tether to, it might well be cheaper to get said Mini in tandem with the lower-cost Vision. Meanwhile there is an installed base of Mac owners who would be attracted to a far more affordable Vision that could be linked up with an existing Mac. Getting a tethered Vision in at a far more attractive price would be a game changer.
I think it will get there. It again reminds me of the very first iPhone. It was an awesome new piece of technology that did things like nothing else on the market, even if it was entering a space already occupied by others beforehand...however it was very expensive at the time ($700-800 with a contract), was sorta thick and while it was awesome technically, it was also feature limited which I think is to be expected for a 1st gen product. AVP is no different here.

Everyone is just way too god damn impatient and think everything Apple releases today needs to have the success of the iPhone of today straight out of the box, when even the original iPhone wasn't as successful as the iPhone of today. The MacBook Air is another good example. It was awesome for what it was in its original form, but was too expensive (cost upwards of $2100) and feature limited. Today, it's much cheaper, has great features for its intended market and is one of the best selling laptops, not only in the US, but the entire world!

I would give AVP a few more years to mature, get VisionOS updated with more features and fixes, with a lower price it could be a successful product in the future. Too many people are taking the Steve Ballmer approach on this and don't see the same vision (no pun intended) as Apple does for this product.

  • Apple axes Wi-Fi router division, apparently signaling the end of AirPort

This utterly sucks, I have recently been through 5 different routers from other vendors , all of which were complete shit. Two weeks ago I gave the AirPort Extreme a go and all my wifi problems are now fixed.
    Agreed.

Perhaps their logic here is that most people use the wireless router that comes from their ISP. That's probably true.

However, for anyone who wants to do anything else AND is in the Apple ecosystem, Apple's routers are awesome. They're an important part of the ecosystem.

If Apple starts taking the axe to individual trees without regard for the forest, they're going to undermine their ecosystem. It's the ecosystem that allows them to hold on to customers.

    Displays -- chop, chop.
    Routers -- chop, chop.
    What's next?
Explain to me how they're important? What do they do that other ones can't do? I don't get this an AirPort is part of their ecosystem logic. I use a Linksys WRT AC1200 and Apple's ecosystem works perfectly fine. What am I missing? Are you concerned about Time Machine backups? Is that it?
Me like many others just like to buy Apple products. They are just so easy to use and you know you get good customer support on them.

I've owned other routers and it was a total pain to setup and maintain. My router would have to be restarted at least once a month. With my Airport it has been plug and play. So easy to work with.
This doesn't answer my question. My Linksys router was plug n play. The only difference is I can't use Apple's shitty Airport Setup Utility to make changes...which I don't care for anyways. In past years they bastardized it so much you can't do anything with it.

    SamsungInsider...
In my neck of the woods you see people using either iPhones or Samsung phones and little else. So that makes Samsung news kinds interesting to read in my opinion.
Not on an Apple centric site it doesn't. A site like ArsTechnica yes, because its not specific to one brand. APPLEInsider, no. Has nothing to do with Apple specifically.

Didn't AppleInsider used to have something call like AppleInside Backpage? This would be a perfect place for things like this.
