How to install macOS Sequoia on unsupported Macs
I'd rather just buy a new Mac than screw around with this crap. You may also have to worry about future updates breaking macOS thus, making your Mac not function properly after the update. Or, even just get a new(er) Mac. Even M1 series Macs are fairly cheap today and have waaaayyyyy more power than any "unsupported" Mac. -

Tim Cook isn't going to get fired, and Steve Jobs isn't rolling over in his grave
red oak said:Cook needs to get rid of all DEI at Apple. It is a cancer that kills internal culture and allows 2nd tier employees to exist at the company. Apple still has "Racial Equity and Justice" and "Inclusion and Diversity" links on its home page. It is disgusting
Competitors are moving faster, more aggressively, and only care if an employee can deliver results. While Apple is primarily focused that everyone, regardless of talent, is "included".
This is going to kill this company -
All hands on deck: Tim Cook, Craig Federighi address Apple employees on AI, Siri

It was Tim Cook who brought it up, by the way.
And yes, I know Cook brought it up

Lighter Apple Vision Pro expected by early 2026
CarmB said:Who wants a pricey, heavy Apple Vision, Pro or otherwise? No consumer wants to pay more and be less comfortable. I can see a move to bring weight down to allow for a standalone premium Vision and then deliver both lower price and weight with a tethered version for the masses. Considering a capable Mac Mini can be had for well below $1,000, even if you had someone without a Mac to tether to, it might well be cheaper to get said Mini in tandem with the lower-cost Vision. Meanwhile there is an installed base of Mac owners who would be attracted to a far more affordable Vision that could be linked up with an existing Mac. Getting a tethered Vision in at a far more attractive price would be a game changer.
Everyone is just way too god damn impatient and think everything Apple releases today needs to have the success of the iPhone of today straight out of the box, when even the original iPhone wasn't as successful as the iPhone of today. The MacBook Air is another good example. It was awesome for what it was in its original form, but was too expensive (cost upwards of $2100) and feature limited. Today, it's much cheaper, has great features for its intended market and is one of the best selling laptops, not only in the US, but the entire world!
I would give AVP a few more years to mature, get VisionOS updated with more features and fixes, with a lower price it could be a successful product in the future. Too many people are taking the Steve Ballmer approach on this and don't see the same vision (no pun intended) as Apple does for this product.

Apple axes Wi-Fi router division, apparently signaling the end of AirPort
sog35 said:macxpress said:blastdoor said:monstrosity said:This utterly sucks, I have recently been through 5 different routers from other vendors , all of which were complete shit. Two weeks ago I gave the AirPort Extreme a go and all my wifi problems are now fixed.
Perhaps their logic here is that most people use the wireless router that comes from their ISP. That's probably true.
However, for anyone who wants to do anything else AND is in the Apple ecosystem, Apple's routers are awesome. They're an important part of the ecosystem.
If Apple starts taking the axe to individual trees without regard for the forest, they're going to undermine their ecosystem. It's the ecosystem that allows them to hold on to customers.
Displays -- chop, chop.
Routers -- chop, chop.
What's next?
I've owned other routers and it was a total pain to setup and maintain. My router would have to be restarted at least once a month. With my Airport it has been plug and play. So easy to work with. -

Didn't AppleInsider used to have something call like AppleInside Backpage? This would be a perfect place for things like this.
