Apple releases iOS 17.0.3 & iPadOS 17.0.3 with overheating fixes
I've never experienced a more bug-riddled update than iOS 17, and I'm pretty sure I've been through them all. I have had nothing but trouble with Siri, contacts, and watch-face complications. I would like to see an option of being able to roll back to a previous iOS but alas it isn't possible. Is it unusual to get three supplementary updates so quickly after the 17.0? -
Final 'big four' Australian bank folds, announces Apple Pay rollout by mid-2020
I've got to agree that Australia has been way ahead with many banking technologies like the cards with the in-built chips a few decades ago and with "tap and go" technologies like ApplePay. I only carry my phone with the driver's license when I go out and that's all I need. Haven't touched cash for years.
Having said all that, though, "HEY, TIM COOK, CAN WE NOW GET THE ECG FUNCTION ACTIVATED ON OUR APPLE WATCHES DOWN HERE?"

Cellebrite trains law enforcement to maintain iPhone-hacking secrets
ApplePoor said:So as one enters through passport control, your iPhone is "borrowed" for a quick look. All personal information is now in the hands of an unknown person who may or may not be "authorized" to be doing this job by the local governmental agency. Seen lots of variation in the appearance of "border control folks" in our would travels that begs the question "Is this really an official of government?".
Further to this, to get any information out of your iPhone without you unlocking it, the phone would need to be plugged into a device like the one in the photo at the top of the screen, and the process takes quite a long time. Your iPhone can't be secretly hacked without it being obvious unless you unlock it.
Perhaps you're being a little too suspicious, or gullible to allow people to borrow your iPhone? -

Apple rolls out iOS 17.0.1, iPadOS 17.0.1, watchOS 10.0.1 updates
I've been in contact with Apple since the 17.0.0 update. Siri doesn't complete any commands, and the text search doesn't work in contacts. I can only search contacts with Siri turned off. They contacted me to let me know that an iOS 17.0.2 update is being released tonight, hot on the heels of 17.0.1. I suspect some engineer in Apple may be asked to please explain. -
